The Oracle II ~ Doubtful Rays of the Sun

Rate this book
Jasmin, a young artist seeks a brighter future in the Netherlands where she is just an Immigrant, but she is longing to be an Expat. Among the challenges of living abroad are both the mundane reality and the nightmares that accompany her at night. She dreams about a priestess Sarah from ancient Egypt, an Oracle, who as a result of her search for immortality, is cursed. Through astral travels, Jasmin watches how life on Earth was influenced by alien races. Sarah’s magic mirrors portray the origin of humankind where non-human beings rule the world. So-called gods look like mythological creatures – hybrids.
Jasmin’s self-doubt and low esteem do not allow her to believe that reincarnation exists or that she could exhibit psychic or telepathic abilities and lucid dream.
How could she believe in Ea – an engineer of a man, the Annunaki race, vampires, demons or angels belonging to myths and legends. And above all that Sarah could be her, in an earlier life.

Following her intuition, Jasmin looks for employment as a dancer across Europe. Thwarted by etheric forces attempting to shape her reality through dreams and daily existence, she pushes through her fears, not willing to be “swallowed up by life.”

Dear Readers,
If you somehow magically gravitated to my profile, let me share with you a personal note, instead of just a formal biography. This you can read on my Amazon page: https://www.amazon.com/Joanna-M-Pilat... or my website.

First of all, I believe this platform was created especially for You, a safe place to share experience and find great books. It’s not always that way, as I gathered many stores about authors spamming readers! This, of course, happens only with indie authors who are in desperate needs for reviews. I was there once …

I am also an author, – both, traditionally and self-published – and any of my other work is spiritual- artistic (dance, painting abstracts), even in coaching I apply art. For many of us, entertainment is rather a challenging business, that is probably why many become desperate in their seeking for what others said should be done.

I understand that some of you may be thrown off but self-published books due to their quality.
Some of you seek for free copies while promotions on Goodreads as you love to read but probably cannot buy thousands of books ;).
If you reach out to me for a free copy, know that I can do that only with self-published books. Traditional publisher doesn’t allow that unless this is specifically in their promotion schedule.

As many authors, I won’t deny I love to get a review. It also helps me to improve when I read a constructive tip. For me, as a reader, everything mattered, even font of the book ;)

You are welcome to share your thoughts with me and I invite you into the world of spiritual fantasy and metaphysical, visionary fiction.

Have an inspiring day with a desired book with you!

When you read the blurb, you will think that you know what's this book is going to be about. You might make your own assumptions.

But trust me, this book is nothing what you might have thought it is going to be about. Be prepared to expect the unexpected.

I feel like that this was a very well thought of book and the writing is clean and scrupulous.

I don't want to spoil the story, so I am not going to give any details, but I can definitely say that I could relate with Jasmin so much since I am a girl living in a different country away from my birth country. There were few instances where I immediately felt a connection towards her.

At first, the parts and bits of Sarah seemed to be a bit confusing to me. But rest assured, as the story progresses, and you start getting to know things, it all makes sense. The two timelines are somewhat muddlesome, but only in the beginning. Later, they become quite interesting.

'Gone with the wind' is one of my favorite movies and I actually squealed when I came across it's tiny reference in the book.

It doesn't at all feel like you are just reading a book. You actually feel like you are experiencing the story.

So, definitely give this book a try if you want to read something that is anything above what you are anticipating.

Doubtful Rays of the Sun (The Oracle Book 2) by Joanna M. Pilatowicz

This was an interesting and unusual book with a contemporary theme of a young woman struggling in love, independence and life and then a more literary, New-Age type exploration of spirituality, past lives, the influence of the Gods supernatural that influences how things work out for us in the now.

This novel was unlike anything I’ve read before and a bit on the experimental side, which I appreciate. I am aware that it was translated from Polish to English and they did a fantastic job, especially in the more literary parts of this character driven story.

Jasmine is a very relatable character to me. She is young, a dreamer and beautiful, but she struggles with how and where she fits in. A polish immigrant in the Netherlands, she’s having a tough time with reality, loneliness and obtaining a job that will pay for her to stay and live decently. A dreamer, who had an idea of how things would be when she left home, but they fall flat, especially on the romance factor, as the men she comes across are the sort best suited for what my irreverent girlfriend Jane used to call a “bump and run.”

The aspects of Lilith affecting the modern world and who she is came into play. We were given the elements of hope, fear, struggles and confusion which all can easily travel from the past or spiritual realm and affect our lives.

The only critique I would give the author is that we are constantly in Jasmine’s head. With the heaviness of the benevolent spirits deciding and discussing her fate in the background, if she had a bit more dialogue or the point of view of another character (perhaps a kindly or enthusiastic character) to play her angst off, I believe it would release the story and propel the plot forward more actively.

Regardless, I enjoyed deciphering the past life influence over Jasmine’s daily and perhaps taking a real glimpse into the secret compartments that live inside each and every one of our hearts.

If you are a deep thinker, into spirituality and wish to explore some pretty cool ideas, this is definitely the book for you.

I really loved how this book was structured with different timelines. I could relate to the present timeline the most, where Jasmin tries to find herself and goes through some common struggles with being a woman today.

The timeline other timelines were also interesting because they provided some insightful life lesson. Overall, this book is a good read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

I really loved this second part of The Oracle. As a woman living abroad I can truly relate with some of the challenges of the main character, Jasmin. I loved the part about creating the mankind and how we are connected with the past. Looking froward to read the next part of The Oracle and I highly recommend to read this one! Great read!

I was positively surprised by this one! Now I like the dynamic of it and 3 timelines the author presents: Current time of Jasmin, her past – Sarah from ancient Egypt and third – nobody knows when perhaps millions of years ago – but where the so-called gods created first humans. It took me back in time and wonder if any of it could go like this. Perhaps “gods” were not perfect and made many mistakes in their design. Reincarnation, astral travel and dreaming states of consciousness are popular topics these days in some circles and Pilatowicz presents a deep knowledge of it in her descriptions and dialogues of creatures, humans from Jasmin’s dreams.

Jasmin finds courage to step away from fear’s darkness into the light of self-worth. Wonderful story.

The Oracle II continues the story of Jasmine, the young woman who travels to the Netherlands to discover herself. The readers gets to see the Netherlands thorough Jamin's point of view which is through the eyes of a foreigner " an outsider" and intertwines with surreal world of the tarot decks, dreams of past lives etc. I would recommend it to anyone who loves female fantasy and/ or sees or feels more. It is enjoyably written , easy and funny to read. Great story!
