These days, there is more focus than ever on a truly communicative classroom. This can be daunting for teachers as more often than not, text books are not truly communicative. With this series, we aim to make tasks based on the Common European Reference Framework available to teachers. Ready made, clearly structured tasks involving topics which students will find fun and engaging. This series is based on years of teaching experience and based on over two years of research and study. In each level, there are 12 tasks. The topics are designed to be exam preparation friendly as well as to be used as complimentary material in the classroom. So, if you are thinking about making your classroom (be it for teens or adults) truly communicative, then this should be the series of books for you!
I expected more from this book. We do need more choice of TBLT coursebooks but there are too many holes in this one. The prologue is a decent read and the lesson plans are fine at a basic level but it falls woefully short and for any teacher who has never taught this methodology as it fails to provide a narrative into how you actually go about teaching the lessons.
My other criticisms are as follows:
1. There is no bibliography to back up the academic references - a major omission 2. One paragraph is repeated twice in the prologue 3. There is a reference to a graph which doesn't exist in the prologue 4. Not enough guidance is given in "how to use this book". 5. The tasks are described as being "video", "blog" etc. in the task index but there are no indications on how to incorporate these vehicles. 6. The task templates are very much similar - what about pre-tasks? 7. The evaluation sheets are always the same but repeated on many pages - why waste space? 8. The cover states levels A2 and B1 and the task list contains all 5 levels although in fact only A2-B1 are included in this book
The book feels like it has been rushed and released without due proof-reading, review, or thought.
