You are literally invited to follow the digging of the tunnel inch by inch, shovelful after shovelful - and it's boring!
Which is sad, because the life of Brunel spans the period from Napoleon to Victoria and with just a minimum of handicraft, it could have been a very interesting study in the history, social conventions, politics and engineering spirit of the early Industrial Age.
