Mateja started to write short stories at the age of ten and later became a freelance journalist, radio personality, whistleblower, and explorer of the inner worlds. She also ran her own advertising agency for eight years. Apart from that, Mateja's life resembles a roller coaster ride full of ups and downs and some pretty wild turns. Among other things, her car was destroyed by tanks and she survived several brushes with death as well as a complete destruction of her former way of life and career. She graduated in psychology from Arizona State University and is now a writer, photographer, and transformation guide.

Thanks to Mateja Klaric, BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine.
An excellent resource book for writers who are starting out or who have little experience with handling websites and blogs.
If you're trying to look at website options, or, like me, are struggling with your blog productivity, this is a great and comprehensive guide. So comprehensive in fact that it brought up things that had never even occurred to me. If the book had been written less effectively, I might have started to feel overwhelmed.
Fortunately the book is laid out in a straightforward, easy to read way and filled with helpful tips and checklists.
Far from usual advice, experience and research are clearly behind this. A linear, complete, and objective guide, full of useful advice and reminders even for the experienced ones. Worth reading even if you already have a website.
Oh finally, creating a website in plain English! I was particularly interested in learning about SEO as everything I was finding online was over my head! I highly recommend this useful guide!
Review Title: Intermediate Guide to Website Creation (Review of How to Create Your Website: For Writers and Other Clueless Souls by Mateja Klaric) Reviewer: Janice S. Garey **** 4 Stars
For those looking to find a guide to help create their own website, this book could be quite helpful. I found it to be a bit more technical than I expected, but that means it will serve a greater number of needs. Those who need less information can easily skip what they don't need. Those who need more will find it here.
The author has sifted through to find what will work best for writers on a budget. A comparison is given with pros and cons of each recommendation. For those on tight budgets, this book gives info about the practically free ways you can set up a basic website for blogging. It also gives explanations about alternatives to the more costly Wordpress business package, and also speaks on the prevalence of hacking on Wordpress.
I recommend this book as one resource to be used along with others when seeking to set up a new website. I read the ebook and feel a hard copy would be more helpful to have in hand to work through when engaged with the actual project. Also the reader needs to keep in mind how quickly information changes in this field so some info in this book may not be relevant for long such as the costs quoted.
I was given a free ebook copy by #netgalley to read and give and honest review. This is my honest opinion. I have not used the book for actually setting up a website, but based on my limited knowledge, I found no reason to think this book would lead astray except for the reasonable expectation of fast industry updates.
Like the other books in this series, there is a lot of useful information here, presented clearly, and in a manner that doesn't waste the reader's time. It does, however, take longer to read, precisely because there is more that you need to know to get up and running with a website of your own.
As usual, Klaric gives us the benefit of her own experience in navigating what are clearly some rough waters. Creating a website is a daunting task for anyone, even if you're technically inclined. To be clear, this is not a book that will teach you how to become a web designer. It's a book that will help you find and use available services and tools that will save you from most of the heavy lifting – i.e., the complexities of coding in HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc. – and still give you enough versatility to establish a presence on the Web that suits your needs if you are a writer, freelancer, or just someone who has something to communicate. It will tell you how to do it in a way that will allow you to safely interact with those you are trying to reach, without busting your budget.
The book could benefit from more graphics – charts, screenshots, snippets – but the ever-shifting landscape of the Internet would make many of these out of date very quickly, so their exclusion is understandable.
There is an extensive set of links at the end of the book to point you to other resources you can use to help you on your way. If you get the Kindle edition (which is free if you buy the print edition), you can get to these directly from the Amazon cloud reader.
My advice here is the same as with Klaric's other how-to books. Read it, then keep a copy of it on your desktop for reference as you dig in and get to work. Make no mistake, you are still going to spend a lot of time getting a site put together, and some frustration is inevitable. This book should, however, save you from blunders that will waste your time and money.
One of the few books I've read in the last time dedicated to upper level issues related to setting up a website. The advice included covers issues such as security and the online safety, the choice of a platform (mostly focused on the platforms aimed at the needs of writers) and SEO. It is very useful especially if your knowledge goes a step beyond the 101 Internet knowledge. Although many of the things recommended can be done automatically while using a specific platform or provider, it is important after all to know what do you deal with and what kind of packages to choose when you select a specific provider. Reading it does not require a specific vocabulary and additional reading, unless you want to cover in depth some of the concepts addressed. Recommended to anyone curious to make his or her way around creating websites and understanding the principles of website maintenance and online security. The book is also well structured and organised in useful batches of information which makes the reading an useful experience, especially if you have time limitations yet interested to have your website ready and functional to get more leads.

This book has great personal and professional perspectives on designing and running a website. There are many people who can tell you what is right for a website, but this book provides a personal example of someone starting from scratch to becoming well-versed at learning the ins and outs of web design.
Many so-called experts would like to make some money off someone who doesn't have much knowledge or savviness to develop their own website. Mateja helps you find the right information for the best value. Watch out for scammers. Mateja navigates through the rip-offs and the fraud.
For the people who need simple instructions to build a website, Mateja can provide you with that information. If you are an author who needs help, myself included, Mateja can help with the annoyances and bugs that drive most people mad. Thank you, Mateja!
'How to Create Your Website: For Writers and Other Clueless Souls' is a great book if you are trying to set up a website on your own without the help of a service provider. The contents cover all the details from intent to completion, as well as revisiting your website to edit, revise and, tweak. This book is significant as it is based on actual experience. The author has invested time and effort in actually going through and implementing all the guidance provided in the book. What sets this book apart from its peers (and imitators) is the authenticity which it communicates. When you get to the end you sense the author's sense of fulfillment and achievement...and the great sigh. It is this sense of overcoming and accomplishment the author wants to share. Its a very nice little self-help book which you want to hang on to and have it around for whenever you need it.
This is a good book for those that are clueless and want to start a website. The only downside is I wished the author would have covered a large range of free websites such as blogger. I have had a blogger for years and by first looks, you cannot tell is a blog, other than that she covers a few different providers for a website so you should be able to find one to fit your bill.
This book will get you started on SEO, but there is a deeper level for SEO for authors and all other kinds of business out there so make sure you keep digging and learning SEO after you get the hang of the simple steps this book can give you. If you can get your SEO right when anyone is searching for an item that you have to offer your website will be on the first pages of searches.
This book is very detailed so anyone will be able to understand and follow the author’s steps.
I recommend this book to any aspiring author, aspiring blogger or new handmade sellers.
How to Create Your Website: For Writers and Other Clueless Souls by author Mateja Klaric is filled with much-needed information for setting up and maintaining a website. Almost everything about websites has changed enormously since my first one in 2001. Back then I had to write part of the code for my headers and formatting for the sections of the page. Now with much easier web hosting platforms, you can have a nice website up and running in minutes. Mateja Klaric takes the reader beyond the basics! There are so many unseen factors which will affect the success of a website. This guide is a super resource for navigating through questions you may have and to understand the issues of your website. I found this guide very helpful.
As a freelance writer and blogger, I definitely know how important it is to have a working website. This book is super short, so it doesn't go into great detail about anything, but it does contain the basics of setting up a website for yourself if you're a writer. I found some of the descriptions of website terms really helpful; I definitely have a better understanding of some of the terminologies now. This book is a great read for someone just starting out who is completely unfamiliar with starting their own website, but might not be ideal for people who are already familiar with things like SEO and website domains.
