I cannot say enough good things about this series. When my son got tired of a homeschool teach-your-kid-to-read classic, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons (too much talking, not enough actual story reading), we scoured our library for alternatives, and found these books. We never looked back. By the third (yellow) set, he was branching out and reading other easy readers with no trouble. His older sister used the eighth series to solidify her reading comprehension, using the questions at the end of the stories. We're now using these books with my youngest, who appreciates the fun, familiar characters that span sets. I appreciate the easy-to-see progression from one book to the next. The illustrations are adorable, and the questions at the bottom of every other page (in the early sets) help to solidify comprehension as well as fluency. Highly recommend!
