This was a light fun read and I really enjoyed the characters and the story - tough the competition part had me cringing from memories of my less than graceful self in middle school.
My favorite part was definitely the characters - I especially love how Elsee just turned an object of power into something she loved simply because she loved it. I like characters who cherish objects for the memories they elicit over how powerful they might be.
The descriptions are also a strong point in my opinion. The way the music is described is very vivid and I liked reading those parts quite a lot.
I look forward the reading the other books and maybe getting to know more about the world Elsee and her friends live in.
