Table Scraps from the Asylum

Experimental shaped poetry. Emphasis on thoughts more than feelings. Deliberately absurd. If advertising could mock culture and call itself poetry, you'd have me. For those tired of feel good condescension and empowerment through victimization. Refreshingly Unamerican. Catchy titles and phrases. (99 pages)

About the author

Brian Spellman

10 books15 followers
In 1986 at twenty six years old, Brian left his hometown to pursue an art career in Los Angeles. While his professional aspirations foundered, his creative ones did not. He cartoons and writes witticisms that reflect life where things do not win big. His disdain for festive advice givers offers pessimistic readers laughter amid their travails. Brian's work seeks identification with those like minded, whether they have histories of substance abuse, support groups or psych ward travesty. He communicates across to interested readers. He does not instruct, advise or presume expertise in any manner.

Better word sculptures than contemporary conceptual word art from Jenny Holzer, Barbara Krueger, or Ed Rucha! Spellman is a master of wit and wisdom and these words sculptures are the best shape poetry you’ll find.
