Written by the founders of Silicon Valley’s the CoderSchool, Basher’s Code Your Own Website is a really useful guide to basic programming that’s packed with quirky, colorful characters―from URL and Domain to Browser and Router―who will explain exactly how the Internet works. Young readers will learn all about the three big website coding HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, then follow the simple steps to code their own dynamic website.
Combining Basher's trademark quirky and humorous illustration style with the very latest teachings on coding, Code Your Own Website also looks closely at online safety, helping young coders to spot the good guys... and the bad ones.

This book does a really good job explaining all of the key concepts behind web software in plain language for a young audience (4th - 7/8th grades). It starts with the networking basics (client/server, DNS, HTTP) and adds on web page creation (HTML, CSS, PHP, JS). It’s illustrated and character driven approach aim to cement the concepts with its audience. The book concludes with a “build a website basic tutorial” which promoted the author’s coding academy company, but it’s not overwhelming promotional - very instructive. The bonus is a short section on cyber-bullying, cyber-predators (called bad guys) and a sharp privacy tutorial and guidelines for the young reader, which is what earned it 5-stars.
