This is a fine 'how to' guide, particularly situated in educational research, that instructs scholars in the best use of semi-structured interviews. It is a practical guide and offers resolutions and strategies in both preparing for an interview and managing difficulties during it.
I was very impressed by the discussion that demarcated between a semi-structured interview and ethnographic interviews. There is also a clear presentation of the snowballing technique.
This is a useful book for educational researchers, but also has great strengths for scholars working in the social sciences and humanities more generally.
