My instructor for Differential Equations assigned me this textbook because it was available for free as a PDF. Because I was taking this course as an independent study, I had to rely almost exclusively on the textbook.

I felt that the author took his time introducing concepts and providing proofs before proceeding, at least in the earlier part of the book. Additionally, he covers most of the important topics as well as textbook applications in areas as wide-ranging as population dynamics, biology, physics, and engineering.

However, by the latter half - the chapters on systems of ODEs, Fourier expansions and their application to solving PDEs, etc. - he moves much more quickly, taking some things for granted which he tacitly assumes the reader might have already seen in linear algebra or analysis such as eigenvectors, eigenvalues, eigenfunctions, function spaces, linear independence, orthogonality, norms, and basis of a vector space.

Overall, a decent (and again, free) book for those looking for a good introduction to differential equations.
