A candid tell-all tale of India’s most debated sectorStarting off as a trainee engineer, Sushil Kumar Sayal was determined to be a success in real estate, at a time when it was viewed as an unscrupulous profession. He has since worked with companies like Mahindra Gesco, DLF and Alpha G, and has played a significant role in establishing the Real Estate Asset Management (REAM) model in the country. In his fast-paced memoir are many anecdotes of dodgy builders, maverick investors and corrupt bureaucrats..
I, maybe was expecting too much from a book whose title seems to offer the reader a much needed deeper understanding of how the real estate industry works along with a behind the door peek.its a journey alright ( as the title says) but mostly an autobiographical one more or less. It reads like a memoir taking the reader how the author reaches where he is now ( which is commendable) , without delving into the nitty gritties of the industry in detail. I don't think I know any more now than when I started the book. The books should have been a common man's journey into how land deals are done, how builder's take them for a ride, how clearances are taken, how they are fooled by builders with respect to super/carpet area and all rather than just saying in the last chapter that one needs to be careful of above. I would not recommend this book to anyone unless someone is interested in authors personal journey in the sector.
