Daily Readings from All Things Are Working for Your Good

Rate this book
In this daily devotional, #1 New York Times bestselling author Joel Osteen shares how God uses the darkness in life for good.

All of us will go through dark times that we don't understand: a difficulty with a friend, an unfair situation at work, a financial setback, an unexpected illness, a divorce, or the loss of a loved one. Those types of experiences are part of the human journey, but in his book Blessed in the Darkness, Joel Osteen teaches that if we stay in faith and keep a good attitude when we go through challenges, we will not only grow, but we will see how all things work together for our good. Now, Joel Osteen offers this companion devotional, that will provide motivation with daily readings and inspirational prayers that will encourage you through the darkness, as you seek the light in God's will.

If we will go through the dark place in the valley trusting, believing, and knowing that God is still in control, we will come to the table that is already prepared for us, where our cup runs over.

Joel Osteen’s ‘Blessed in the Darkness: How All Things are Working for your Good’ was a powerful book that relayed its message successfully. Throughout the eighteen chapters, Osteen reminds you to keep your faith in God even in the darkest times. Even if you feel like giving up, God is doing everything for a reason. If you are in a difficult situation, God is about to bring you back up. In that message, he weaves in several examples that fit the chapter. He talks about the stories from the Bible and brings up his past many times. Although the message was delivered, the book definitely could have been shortened. It seemed like there was too much repetition throughout the book. Even though it was inspiring to hear stories about his life, it got tiring after hearing about him and the Compaq Center.

If you want to change your thought life to be more positive, one of the best authors to help you along with that is Joel Osteen. His new daily devotional, Daily Readings from All Things Are Working for your Good is full of encouragement that you can get through the hard things and that God is for you.

Each day's reading from Daily Readings from All Things are Working for your Good is short. There is a Bible verse paired with a reading taken from Osteen's book, All Things Are Working for your Good. This book is small in size, just 4.4 by 6.3 inches, so it could easily fit in your purse, book bag or brief case to carry to read whenever you need a pick-me-up for the day besides your morning devotions. The scenic cover picture makes this book a nice one for both men and women to read.

This daily devotional will of course appeal to Osteen fans, but it also a nice book for someone who truly does need to hear some positive thoughts each day during a difficult time in life. As Osteen says, we all experience setbacks in life, but if we keep our faith in God, looking to Him, and staying positive about life, not only will our faith grow but we may even see how God is working things out for our good. I would recommend Daily Readings from All Things Are Working for your Good for anyone needing positive words and encouragement while going through the valleys of life.

A good daily devotional focusing on whatever is good. But there are other devotionals out there. Is it better? I don't know I haven't read that many but they all seem to be uplifting, encouraging. I would say this is worth getting. IF you can keep up with reading it daily.

By the way, mine had the same cover as the Kindle and audio, not the one shown.

May 16, 2025 - Read a page again today by chance and was blown away. Wrote a huge further review to recommend this book and the power went out, lost all of what I said and scriptures I quoted. I will try to start again. Funny losing all that review though, with all the scriptural references, etc. Coincidence or...?

May 25, 2025 - I work at the library which I may have already said in my previous review. Anyway, I have been going past this book shelving stuff near it and decided to read what it said for May 16th. Wow, just wow. You have to read the entry to get the full effect and I won't reprint it here, just the end part that really got me.

"You need to see every enemy, every adversity, every disappointment in a new light: the opposition is not there to defeat you, it's there to increase you."

The whole entry blew my mind, I'm on the verge of losing my house to foreclosure and things look especially grim.

The next day was just as good, bringing hope to me. It is a story about how cotton growers were struck with the catastrophe of having their crops wiped out by the boll weevil. This led them to try peanuts which the boll weevil didn't like. The peanuts grew fantastically and were worth more than the cotton.

"God used the boll weevil to bless them with prosperity." In my dire situation it gives me hope. Although I can't see anything positive coming out of my situation which is to complicated to get into here, I'm reminded of the verse that says not to lean on your own understanding. And the verse that says, "Be still..."

You have to get this book. It's so positive, helpful, refreshing, hopeful, spiritually and emotionally energizing.

When I get the chance I'm going to get a copy, when I get the money to spare. Until then I'll keep borrowing this book until I can't anymore. That'll give me months. So, even though I have an end date to this book, assume I'm still reading it. It's one that is always relevant and I like that each page is a different day with a new verse and message. I may read it all the way through, then just start reading it again because it's a new day with new challenges.

Are you facing opposition? Is your faith being tested? Have you experienced a loss? If so, or a myriad of other things, this devotional is for you. While you may have a list of negatives happening in your life right now Joel Osteen, author of Daily Readings from All Things Are Working for Your Good, has written some truths you can hold on to. He begins with a piece of scripture and adds the days devotional, a positive to help get you through your situation.

The devotional appears to be well made, I do wish it had a ribbon to help mark your place. I also wish there was a prayer at the end of each devotional. However, there are a few pages to record your thoughts which is nice. My overall feeling is that it is easy to use and the font is big enough to easily read with my glasses. I would recommend this devotional to those who have read the book ‘All Things Are Working For Your Good’ (Joel Osteen), or anyone needing a positive in their day.

If you feel that your faith is being tested or you’re experiencing setbacks in life, then this may be a good devotional book for you to read. Osteen wants to remind the reader that God can, and will, use struggles and challenges for His good, to pull us closer to Him, and to move us toward the person we were created to be.

Each reading begins with a scripture verse (from a variety of translations), followed by the daily devotion. This is a 365-day devotional, aligned with the calendar. There is no ribbon bookmark, as is common in books of this nature. The book is a bit smaller than average, so it is easy to put in a purse or bag and take along on your daily travels. However, the small size and font could prove a bit tricky for some readers. I've read a number of devotional books from Osteen. This one was not my favorite, but I still found it to be full of helpful and inspirational readings.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy as part of the FaithWords blogger program, but I wasn’t required to leave a positive review.

This is a pretty helpful devotional filled with dozens of different stories and examples of how God always pulls through. It gives you perspective on how to deal with trials and darkness and is an excellent daily companion on your walk with God.
This was a gift & I plan on passing it along.
I’d recommend this book. Especially if you’re busy and struggle to get in the habit of scripture. The readings take just a minute or two and each is accompanied with a daily verse to keep in mind.
Happy reading!

He looks like a sheep, but underneath, he is a ravenous wolf! It's all phony. He is deceiving God's people. He starts out with pretending to pursue God, and end with his real goal for you- focus on success. Read KUNDALINI WARNING - Are False Spirits Invading the Church? By Andrew Strom. God showed me that Word of Faith is operated by the Kundalini spirit. Joel is a false prophet. This is a powerful spirit. It's a test. Read your bible. Kundalini twists the Word of God. Word of Faith tells you you need to tithe in order to be blessed. But where should you tithe? Is it definitely Joel? Do you believe in the fruits of their ministry? So he can get even richer while you stay poor. Does he not know what he is telling you is a lie? Or it's always God's will to give you wealth and health. What about Job? His story is our story, that we will lose things in this life. Doesn't mean we don't have enough faith. Read Jesus Goes To McDonald's by Luiz Alexandre Solano Rossi. Having a great life is a lie. When you become a Christian, the devil is after you. Everyday a battle, not a cushion. Or not to question those in positions of spiritual power. Yet Paul called out false teachers! Word of Faith movement is a bunch of garbage. If you accept it, you will, like me, have years of struggle, where you are looking for a "sign" God is with you. The only sign is His Word! They talk about not being "religious," as if an empty undiscerning mind ready to accept false doctrines is the Way to accept God. You must hold on to the true doctrine. Matthew 24:10-13 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. Once saved, always saved is a lie. To be saved, you must confess you are a sinner, that you put your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior and will submit to Him in all things, including every part of your life, and with His help, that you will stop sinning. The deception here is really great! The manipulation is subtle, but with the Holy Spirit's help you can detect it. Truth mixed with lies is LIES. The positivity, the blabbing out promises without faith, the holding God hostage- Sure you can hold God hostage, but will He really find no falsehood among you? Joel Osteen is bewitching you, and lulling you to sleep. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB4QF.... See if these teachings really stand up to the light of the Word of God.

Horrible- health and wealth preaching- This isn’t based on sound biblical doctrine- I started to see there’s a theme in his books of it’s all about him and self. Encouraging people just to think about themselves and what they need and what they want- And missing the whole idea of the relationship that we have with God. God is not a genie in a bottle- it’s not about God being on demand for you and giving you all that you want and desire or making you feel better about yourself. God is creation and he created you in his image. Your relationship with him and reconciliation with him comes through Jesus. Through repentance and turning away from sin. You never hear Joel Osteen talk about this. He’s a health and wealth motivational speaker he is not a pastor-
