When I was a kid, I used to check this out of the library all the time. My mother would ask me why I kept getting the same book. I couldn't answer her. I have no idea what it was about his one--the weird illustrations? I think I found the bizarre zebra / alligator Ugga-Wuggas a little odd or unsettling. Fast forward forty or so years: I found this on Amazon and bought it to read with my son, who is at the age now I was then. I wanted to see if the book held up. It does, by a mile. Anyone with an offbeat sense of humor will wholly enjoy this. The book is almost all dialogue, and dialogue that's fun to read aloud. And the concept is so weird but told in such a deadpan style that adults can like it for their own reasons. This is one of those kid's books that doesn't assume its readers are barely literate.

A whacky kids' book that I had on my shelf from when I was a child, but had never read until now. It definitely has a slightly trippy 60s-70s vibe. I enjoyed it, but it didn't really stick in my memory after reading it.
