George McVey is a Pastor that grew up in a Christian home. He prayed a prayer of Salvation at the tender age of six and continued in church until his teens. At around age sixteen George became disillusioned with what he saw in church and Christians and began looking for something else. Like so often happens in that situation, he was introduced to the occult and spent the next two years as a practicing Satanist. In his late twenties George returned to the faith of his childhood and soon there after felt the call of God on his life to reach out to young people like he had been. In 1995 George began working as a youth minister and did that for the next five years. As a youth pastor he has written several youth devotionals and lessons for himself and other part time and volunteer youth pastors as well as two complete youth retreats. He always printed them himself for the retreat members but always dreamed of publishing. He was ordained in 2000 and became a senior pastor/ church planter in 2001. In 2007 George went from senior pastor to revivalist pastor with an emphasis on spiritual warfare and particularly on prayer walking a community to see spiritual breakthrough and renewal. In late 2009 Georges ministry focus had shifted to prayer walking and revival coupled with prayer walking. George has taught on the subject many times and led countless prayer walks, and he kept hearing people tell him they would love to have his information in print so In 2010 God moved PG to begin to write. He has written several Bible studies and short stories. His first two books are non-fiction Bible studies. One day he woke up with several characters in his head trying to tell him their stories. He began writing them down.
"Java Muse" is an intriguing love story about how a successful author who is struggling with writer's block meets a frustrated up and coming author. Although I liked this book, I must say if you are a George McVey fan and used to his western stories, this isn't that series.
Some scenes in the book stay true to the PG-13 rating although I felt it was more a borderline R rating. Although these scenes and language are not what I like to read, I continued because the story kept my attention and kept me intrigued. From the first chapter that made me laugh out loud till the end, I enjoyed the story, minus the bad words. Because of that I gave this book a 5 star rating.
Yes, I still prefer the style that George McVey has written in the past, the squeaky clean western romances but I will read the other stories that are coming in the series.
I was given a complimentary copy of "Java Muse" by the author. These opinions are my own.
I'm pretty partial to George's strong Christian themed romances, so this book was a bit different for me. Although still a clean romance, I'm not fond of all the kissing and making out in this book. Getting past that, it was a very cute story! I loved the inclusion of the real author Caroline Lee and her precious Princess Wiggles as well as the pick up lines from the discussion on Pioneer Hearts Facebook page! It's great to be a part of the book in that way! I like the whole premise of this series and I'm extremely fond of authors working together in these types of series! It gives you a chance to try new authors and gives the authors a way to improve their skills and learn from each other!
I really enjoyed this book whoever said men can't write romance never read any of George McVey's books , the characters in this book are so real and the plot was full of romance, surprises and many twists I enjoyed the surprise appearance of Caroline Lee and her adorable Princess Wiggles
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Romance, drama, comedy, everything you can expect with a Java Cupid cup of coffee. I can't wait till the next one! I love the romance between R. G. and Aurora their relationship and how it grew. Yeah, it was a bit of insta-love but the realistic boundaries set it back in the real world which I appreciated. Great job!
