All I need to do is get some fixatives and stains and I'll be rocking microscopy from the sixties! Yee-haw! Not quite ready to make sections yet. They probably have much more modern equipment that helps facilitate that kind of slide. The book is a bit dated. Regardless, it starts off with explaining all the physics behind the use of the microscope in a really good level of detail. Then goes through its basic use and lighting methods and photography. The majority of the book is about slide preparation, including staining, fixing, wholemounts, dehydration, and sections. Then at the end there are eighteen detailed examples of slides you can make yourselves. SWEET!! Also, a handy chart of recommended techniques for different types of samples. My microscope is from the 1910's so it's perfect for me. If you are doing electron microscopy, this book will be worthless.
