I am NOT a programmer, nor have I ever been. I have always wanted to be able to do things I don't know how to do with programming, to make things easier, to automate, and to liven things up. But it has always been such a challenge for me. I have a hard time with getting things to work the way they are supposed to and have been an honest failure when it comes to programming. I thought maybe I would try it one more time and read a book from an author who has given me a lot of insight in to other topics, to see if perhaps I could learn something finally.
Slavio writes a lot of different books on a lot of different topics. Because of this, they are often just an overview on the topic. This was another of those surface types of books, but does give you some basic information that is good and helps when you are stuck like me.
And again in this book, he provides all of the basic information you need to learn what the general details needed for using python programing. There are tips and tricks to help you learn the basics and understand how it works. He takes you through simple steps, yet helps you understand how to use it and how to get started. I felt he did a good job with his explanation and teaching. I do feel I got some new information and learned some new things that might help me.
As for how well his instructions and teachign work I can't say. I haven't implemented any of it. I still have a fear of being unsuccessful in my attempts and am not sure where I want to begin. But I can say that I HAVE learned some new things and do feel I have a bit more than I did before and it may be possible for me to find success when next I try. The problem? I still lack a lot of understanding and don't know that I am really ready to begin. I have questions still and know I will face things I don't know how to do, and am not sure where to go for the support I need from there.
While being short and limited in instruction overall, there WAS good information in it and the writing was well done. I did learn new things and hope to be able to put it to work and find success in my attempts.
