Part 2 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is by far one of my favorite parts of the manga to date. While this part is very early on in Araki's career as a writer and illustrator, this part hits all the right notes for me which makes it one of my favorite stories period. Battle Tendency, the name of the part, also has one of my favorite protagonists in the series: Joseph Joestar. While Johnathan Joestar, the protagonist in Part 1, was very one-noted and very much just a "good guy", who fights with honor and is overall a shining example of what a white knight type character is, his grandson Joseph is very unlike his gentlemanly ancestor. He is loud, brash, cocky, and not a "gentleman" like Johnathan always prided himself on being. But, he still has the same ideals and will to fight just like his grandfather before him. The story itself explains the origins of the Stone Mask, which was the object that granted the antagonist in Part 1, Dio Brando, his vampiric powers. Jojo has to team up with the grandson of the man who helped train Johnathan in hamon, William Zeppelli's grandson Caesar Zeppelli. While they originally don't get along, their friendship and rivalry is very entertaining to watch play out during the story. This story took what Part 1 did, and then did better in every aspect. The story, threat, character deaths, it all is a step up. I would recommend Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Part 2: Battle Tendency to anyone who has read or watched Part 1. Even though this is shorter than most of Jojo's other parts, this is just a great read overall.
