I'm an avid fan of mystery stories. I started reading Agatha Christie novels at an early age. My favourite fiction detective is Poirot, I love his fussy ways and his attention to small details. I love the TV series, 'Murder She Wrote' and have watched every episode. I like working out who the killer is, and what the clues are.

I live near Leeds, Yorkshire, which is in the north of England. My two daughters live with me and they are understanding about my passion for mystery shows! I've now discovered 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries'.

I've been wanting to write my own mystery stories for years - and now I finally have.

Great Books

If you are looking for scary ghost stories that's not what these books are about. If you are looking for heartwarming stories that show memories and love don't fade just because we die you'll enjoy these books. The stories are as much about the living as they are about the ghosts. I can't wait to read more about Ruby and Nessa.

Loved them.

I loved each and every one of these stories. To see the sisters help one another become who they really are was heartwarming. And it is very easy to fall in love with this little town. This would also make a wonderful series on TV. I highly recommend this book for all ages.

all of these short stories were good. I especially liked the last one about Olive Potts. You made them sound really believable. Each one had a happy ending but all in a different way. Keep up the good work.

Ghost hunters are such fun books to read. And Gillian Larkin has put together a series of ghost stories. They are short stories so you will read one and just keep going! Always a well written story by the author. Definitely recommend any of her books.

Entertaining

Four quick reads with two sisters who are sensitive to ghosts. The older sister is lonely and the younger sister an inconsistent character. Basic writing.

This set of four mysteries is the beginning of the Ruby and Nessa series. Ruby has seen and interacted with ghosts ever since she was a young girl. Her father, a vicar, was comfortable with this, however her mother was upset and could not accept the fact that her daughter could communicate with the dead. So Ruby moved away and began her solitary life as a ghost hunter. She left behind a younger sister, Nessa (Vanessa), who became a handful for her parents to manage. When she ended up at the police station after many bad choices, her parents decided she should go live with Ruby for a total change of scenery. This is where the story opens. The sisters are in a supermarket after hours trying to make contact with a ghost.

The stories in this set have a variety of settings and circumstances that are interesting and sometimes sad, but never really terrifying. A set of supporting characters are a huge asset to the sisters as well as the stories. Interestingly enough, most of Ruby's friends are older-65 and up to 97. Their ages are soon forgotten or used to inject a little humor as our 97 year old often needs assistance. The books are consecutive and each totally different ghosts, problems and resolutions.

If you like a light paranormal story (with no nightmares!) you will enjoy Ms Larkin's newest contributions to ghost tales that are fun to read.

These books are set in England and contain no violence or sexual content. Ruby Laurel is a ghost hunter and ghosts have contacted Ruby, over the years, for her help. Her younger sister, Nessa, joins her as Ruby is trying to find out who the ghost is that is haunting a market. Ruby eventually learns that the ghost is Mary Jackson who was born in 1898. Mary was a young unwed mother whose child was taken away from her she gave birth. Mary has unresolved issues that deal with her baby’s father (and all young fathers) who left her and had no interest in her or their child. Ruby investigates and finds that this issue has continued through the years and involves the young owner of the market. Nessa is there when Mary appears and is not happy with Ruby’s ghost hunting, at first, but later agrees to move in with Ruby and aid her in her ghost hunting.
This was a very entertaining, lighthearted, short story that has an ending that explains the “what and why” of Mary Jackson. I thoroughly enjoyed this short story as well as the other three that follow as Ruby and Nessa help with the ghosts in the Pub, the Garden and the Church. I did receive a free copy of this book in return for an honest and fair review. I believe the first story is now available for free and some of the others may be available if you have Kindle Unlimited. (by paytonpuppy)

Box set of four stories about a brand new ghost hunting duo, Ruby and Tessa. Other interesting and regular characters also join them in these excellent shorts...and don't forget the ghosts!

I love all Larkin's stories, and these are of her usual very high standard. They are fun, humorous, well written, serious, heartbreaking, and spot on with regard to family/sisterly relationships.

You can tell that the author enjoyed writing these - it shows. Enjoy!

I was given a digital copy of this in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I have read Gillian Larkin's Julia Blake's cozy mysteries and the Storage Ghost Murder mysteries. I really enjoyed the Ruby and Nessa - Ghost Hunters series. In this box set there are four books.
A Ghost in the Store - this one tells you how Ruby who hunts ghosts for people and talks them into leaving is joined by her sister who thinks she is crazy. A Ghost in the Pub is a good story. But A Ghost in the Garden is by far my favorite of the four stories. A Ghost in the Church is quite surprising. The characters and stories are a little more darker that the one's in her other books, but that's what makes them enjoyable. I hope Gillian continues this series. I would love to see how the sister's relationship grows and I would love to see how Ruby grows with having Nessa back in her life.

I received a copy for a fair and honest review.
