Closure: An Eli Quinn Mystery

Rate this book
A shocking, unsolved murder in the normally quiet town of Pleasant provides Eli Quinn with a mysterious case, his first as a private investigator.

Tinker Bernstein was shot in his garage, three days after his computer had been stolen in a break-in. The dual crimes must be more than a coincidence, but there are few clues and no obvious motive. Quinn's good friends, reporter Samantha Marcos and lawman Jack Beachum, help him piece together a puzzle that surprises them all.

Quinn has to break a few rules, and a few bones, along the way, and his dog Solo, the world's greatest K-9 private eye, helps keep him safe.

Too pat for four stars

It wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't an exceptionally good book either. The dog definitely needed a larger role, I am a dog lover. She gave a good period of mourning to the husband and being a widow I liked the reality of that. But really, solving a case in four days? That was just too much to be believed. I got a little tired of the in-depth menus, a little food review is fine but reviewing three wines at one meal is overkill. I'll read the next book, just to make sure that britt is improving , but I'm not holding out a lot of hope right now.

Enjoyed this quick read

Found this book while browsing Amazon. The second in the series "Drone" was being offered at a discounted price and sound interesting. When I read that "Drone " was part of a series I ordered this book to read first.
Eli Quinn had spent the past year tracking down his wife's killer and then the trial. Now it was time to do something else. Having made good investments on Wall Street when younger money was not a particular issue. He needed just enough to cover daily living expenses. Eli did not like the idea of going back to his previous job writing for the Arizona Republic. Sam, a good friend and getting to be a better friend, suggested Eli might try being a private investigator. After all he had solved his wife's murder. Sam has a friend who's husband was recently murdered and the sheriff's department has all but quite looking. She thought with Eli's history, of investigating stories for the paper and solving his wife's murder, he might do well as a PI.
The story tells of his investigation into Tinker's murder while coming to grips with feelings for Sam and still thinking about his wife, Jess.
I would recommend this quick read. I feel like it is setting the background for the rest of the series all of which have good ratings.

Closure is about a man you want to succeed. Quinn's lost his wife and now he's on his first murder case as a private detective, a career move that will hopefully work out for him. The obvious clues point nowhere, but there's an answer out there, somewhere, if Quinn searches hard enough.

The detective also has a love interest, keeping it interesting for the ladies like me, but it moves slowly, which I've always appreciated -- building things up and not wasting up all the good stuff too quickly.

Definitely read Drone, the sequel, which picks off right where Closure leaves off!
