With vibrant illustrations to bring thr rhyming text to life. This chapter book tell the delightful story of Dino. Young Dino loves to play and has a wonderful imagination, but when he is told to put his toys away and do his homework he sulks and pouts. Then his Momma shows him how to get it all done and he finds himself quickly working his way through. Show preschoolers that there is time for play, but not to forget there is also time to learn.

Dino Dino Doing Homework is engaging and exciting! This one has amazing illustrations, and a great lesson for kids. If you are looking for another fun story time read, a captivating story for your new reader, this one is for you!

I really loved the illustrations in this one. I thought they were full of color and very engaging. The length of the book was short and sweet, and the lesson in the story was a very important one too.

I have not met a kid yet that enjoys homework. Dino Dino was certainly no different. But, he quickly learned how important it was to finish his homework before play time. This one taught a very valuable lesson with vivacious pictures and enjoyable rhymes.

Thank you to Claressa for sending me this free e-book in exchange for my honest review!

The Importance of Homework

Colorfully illustrated story with a valuable lesson about homework. Dino loves to play and sing but he does not like homework. His mother helps Dino learn about the importance of doing school work before other activities.

It Rhymes and makes me happy.

My 4 yr old son loved this story and the illustrations. He wanted to look at each page carefully. Even though he doesn’t have homework he said, “I love to play all day.” I really enjoyed the rhyme. It kept his attention quite well. So sweet.

Hello, friends! Our book today is Dino Dino Doing Homework, written by Claressa Swensen and illustrated by Yogesh Mahajan, the story of a little dinosaur learning the value of doing his homework.

There are many things that little Dino likes to do, like singing his favorite songs while dressed up as a king, and playing hide-and-go-boo with his big sister. But one thing Dino does not like is homework: he hates having to stop doing all his fun activities to work on learning. He complains about this to his mommy, but she stands firm, encouraging Dino to work hard and do his best. And when he does, Dino finds that completing his homework and being prepared for the next day at school makes him feel accomplished and confident, and makes his mother very proud.

This one was a bit rough around the edges, but had some genuine positives! The art was mostly fun, with decent shading and vibrant colors and characters, though it did suffer from the illustration shortcut of having the characters’ facial expression be identical across many pages. And while there where a few rhymes that were a bit clunky, most of the text was easy and fun to read aloud. The story is simple, but it does exactly what it needs to do: gives children honest and convincing reasons to do their homework. There’s even some fun coloring pages included in the back. The length was fine, and JJ enjoyed it, so overall, we can say that this one is Baby Bookworm approved!

This book is reminiscent of the Llama Llama Books by Anna Dewdney. I say that as a huge, huge compliment as we really love those books around these parts. The rhyming scheme feels natural and leads you through the story in a sing song happy way. When reading to my daughters I slipped effortlessly into the characters and the flow of the story while reading aloud.

The moral of the story was (spoiler alert) that you should do your homework before all the playing. This is definitely a book we will revisit when we get back into the school year. I absolutely love the illustrations. The simple, bold pictures and colors feel like a relief to my eyes. That seems an odd way to explain, but it just brings me joy the way the layout of words and pictures go.
