Code Zero

Rate this book
During World War II, the United States suffers devastating losses in the Battle of the Coral Sea and it becomes evident that a new carrier based aircraft is needed. After seeing the performance of the Zero against our fighters, it is suspected Japan is stealing our aircraft designs before our new planes are even in production. The latest US fighter aircraft, the F6F Hellcat, is about to hit the production lines and the government desperately wants a late model Zero to test it against. In an intercepted message, Naval Intelligence learns there is one of the latest A6M Zeros undergoing tests on the recently occupied island of Attu, at the extreme tip of the Aleutian Islands, a thousand miles from the Alaskan mainland. Gaston Carson is called back to Washington for a Top Secret assignment and sent to Camp X, a spy training facility in Canada, to prepare. Carson’s mission is to capture a Japanese A6M Zero fighter and return it to the United States for testing. Timing is critical. American and Canadian forces are about to launch a massive air and ground campaign to recover Attu Island from the Japanese occupiers and in the bombing raids the target plane will be destroyed.

I thought this book was a good book, but but the characters were not that strong.
