When Your Hustling Days Are Gone: A Bad Boy Romance

Rate this book
Every man wants a woman that's going to be by his side while he's hustling to get to the top and even after he gets there. That's exactly what Poca did for Makhai. She was by his side when he was broke and had nothing as well as when he was on top of the world and had everything at his fingertips.

When outside forces come in and threaten to destroy everything the couple built together, will they be able to stick together and weather the storm? Or will the damage be too much for the couple to handle?

Cali had everything he ever wanted and needed in his girl Love, but he just couldn't seem to get his act together. With his life spiraling out of control on a path of destruction, will Cali be able to get his life together before it's too late? Or will Love have enough of his doggish ways and leave him at his lowest?

When your hustling days are gone

This book was good at first I like Khai until he pull that stunt with Liyah. I loved Poca and can't wait until Khai realized he had a good girl in poca. Can't wait for part 2.

Khai and Poca are considered to be drifting apart in the beginning then quickly head over heels in love to only be pulled apart by what seemed like nothing. Khai didn’t seem to be taking care of his business at all from the beginning, Poca came off as holding his hand. With all the meetings and sit downs going on the story seemed to be just a bit off, not to mention how Liya was able to come in and he waste all those years over what?

You don’t get the connection between the two other than the thought that he’s ready to go. Then to turn around with the Caz situation with nothing to connect them was off. Too many things were left in the open with this as well. What was going on with her aunt and what’s the big deal with the father? It’s like the author wants you to read about a bunch of nothing. The next one should be good but I’m wondering just where this is going to leave Khai seeing that he’s pretty much lost his family.

Poca and Khai seemingly had the relationship that everyone in the hood aspired to attain. The little glimpses of their past that we were able to see spoke to the struggle that they encountered and endured together. Pocahantos aka Poca came from a background where love was nonexistent until she met Makhai. Like Poca, he was estranged from his mother because of similar relationship issues. All he had in the world was his younger brother Cali and his love, Poca. Things seemed to be coasting along fine for the King and Queen of the hood and in comes a snake named Liyah. I don't quite understand how Makhai allowed this nothing of a woman to infiltrate his happy home. He was constantly giving his younger brother advice on how to treat his long-time woman Love and yet he allowed a moment of weakness to completely demolish everything that he had built with Poca. While the story was good there were some serious disconnects in the story for me. I almost felt like I needed to read a Part 1 before I read this book. The history that these two shared was something that would have allowed us to better understand the nuances that made up their characteristics and personalities. Every mention of some past event left me a wanting to know more so that I could fully connect with both Poca and Makhai. I think this missing piece would have helped me become fully engaged in the story. Without this integral part to the story I was constantly having the thought in my mind of "why, who, what, when, and where". I did enjoy the story and as always Ms. Charmanie Saquea delivered a quality read. I am definitely looking forward to part two and hopefully additional light will be shed on these two to better enable me to get a full understanding of why they are the way that they are. Good Job Ms. Saquea!!! Hopefully we won't have long to wait to see how this story will continue to unfold.

Definitely a must read!!!!!

All I can say is that this book was definitely a must read. The storyline definitely fit the title and it was well written. Reading this book I was on the edge of my seat because I loved the drama that was unfolding. I don't want to give the story away but I was say that Poca was making boss moves. This book shows us how a woman is the hustler behind the man. The realness of the story will leave you speechless with your mouth wide open. I gave this book five stars because of the originally of the story and I didn't see any mistakes and the author took her time writing the story and I could feel the emotions of the characters in this book. Part 2 is definitely going to be good because the drama will continue and the twists will have us on edge. Charmanie your penmanship is fabulous and you always bring that fire. I would definitely recommend this book to others and everyone who reads this book is going to rate it five stars because nobody will be disappointed.

Loved it!

I absolutely loved this book. Poca was a true ride or die chick for Makhai until he let the wrong head think for him. California had a good girl in Love, the only problem is he couldn't resist sharing himself with every woman that crossed his path. These two couples have a lot of obstacles in their way. Will they persevere, or will they end up damaged. I won't give away the story, all I will say is that this is a must read and I am anticipating part 2 to see where this story will take me.

Never a disappointment

Charmanie Saquea is that BOSS in the literary world hands down! Pocahontas or "Poca" is that loyal, ride or die, and hold you down type of chick for her man Makhai until he crosses the line between business and pleasure. Cali is in love with his girl Lo however, he can't seem to not smash everything that's walking. This story proves that you never miss your water until your well runs dry and that the grass ain't always greener on the other side.

Daaaaaamn!!!

Now Charmanie! We can't let the power couple go out like that. I know Khai messed up, but he fessed up. You gotta get them back together. Poca is that chick. I like her. I don't trust Caz for some reason. Sergio has to grow on me . Cali and Love I know they gone make it. Overall this is a 5 star read. You did it once again. It left me speech less. Now part 2 PLEASE!

When Your Hustling Days Are Gone

Mahkai was once my hero , but he threw that away in the blink of an eye. I hope it was worth it. Poca was as real as they came, but don't sleep on her. She took her vows very serious, and she proved her loyalty. Cali fell off, but he got right back up before he hit rock bottom. The one woman he didn't deserve was right by his side every step of the way. Mahkai was dealt a shocker, and it blew his mind. How is he going to handle it?

Good Read

This was a good book. I do had to admit that after about half way thru the book I was wondering what is the point of the book, like when is the action going to come and bam it happened and I couldn't believe that Mahkai which is my son's name by the way left his wife Pocahontas, like bro for a nothing ass B like Liya like come on that just didn't make any sense whatsoever. Even though I like him he is getting exactly what he deserves.

Cute story line as always.

This was a good read, there's nothing like a women scorned but I don't understand how they went from a loving Bonnie and Clyde to him just lea ing her like that. I would have hoped they could've gotten it together. I guess we'll have to see what happens.

Poca

Poca is every man's dream and Khai messed that up for a worker he won't even up grade. I'm hoping she won't take his A$$ back. Now he knows he messed up real grass with artificial turf.

Great story , great movement. It is such a good read and you will love to hate these men. I really like that it was a love story and a hood story that is not like everything else...the way things played out will surprise you.

Good Read

Another nice read from Charmanie. Your books are only getting better. Poca was truly a woman scorned. My feelings for Mekhai are really indifferent. He was just wrong all the way around. I can't wait to see what part two brings.

"The ish

Kai & Poca had the perfect relationship until Kai decided to allow his extracurricular affairs to break up his home. Poca is a Boss Lady in every sense and her revenge game on Kai gave me life. Loved this book! Hurry up with part 2.

Ain't nothing worse than a woman scorned

The worse thing a man can do is play with a woman's heart. Makhi is learning that the hard way. Poca ain't playing NO games.

Ummm

I love Poca! She was loyal to her husband and always made sure he and their son were good...but I know that doesn't mean that the loyalty will be returned, I like that Cali is trying to do better to be with Love I hope that works out. I like Caz and I hope he and Poca get together, Khai looking stupid now bc he is losing everything over a peice of p.
