Great archive of the language of a still emerging field as the personal computer slowly made it's way into the home. The first chapter has an "imagined" dialogue between father and son about how computers are the future, so futuristic that in the future mom's recipes will all be sorted "on the computer" It does, however offer a fairly circuitous (ja ja ja) description of NAND gates and its CMOS architecture. I started reading this on my way to nerdlandia when I was 12 and even had the multiple choice questions in the "what have we learned" Quiz section scrawled (in pencil)
