An Irish Australian, Dorothy came to Australia after graduating from Edinburgh University (MA Hons, English Language & Literature, 1972) and Queens University Belfast (1973). She also has a PHD in Creative Writing from Melbourne University (2014).
She has taught high school English /Drama in Sydney and Albury NSW ; her play "Night Exercise' was performed by the Murray River Performing Group and her Young Adult Fiction dates from 1998 - 2004'Video Zone'', 'Ridge', 'Frames' and 'Time Out' were published by Lothian Books:.
Her Historical Fiction is published by Arcadia, 'Living like a Kelly' in 2015 and 'Of Breath and Blood' in 2020.
