A young man escapes the strange town of Refuge for the day, to avoid the funeral of a murdered girl, and a confrontation between his gay partner and his ex-wife. He goes for a 'walk in the park' - how easy is that? But like many of us, he takes the wrong path which leads to a terrifying encounter. All Author Proceeds for SanctuaryAustraliaFoundation.org. The Wrong Path is first in a series of creepy little tales from the township of Refuge, a community in which the dregs of human society, and indeed some not so human citizens, have made their homes. This one is a retelling of the Red Riding Hood fable, only the wolf is a cat, Riding Hood isn't a little girl and the woodcutter might not be there to help. There is definitely a walk in the forest, though. And spatters of red.

I read this as part of volume one of the The Refuge Collection. All starts of normal enough, but things go very strangely, horribly wrong. A disquieting little tale for when you've got a moment of quiet. Enter this part of Refuge, if you dare.
