First off, I had no intention of using chemicals to remedy any of the issues I might find in this book. Whilst browsing the library's selection of gardening books, I saw this huge mutha of a book sticking out on the shelf, and I simply could not resist its well-organized, color guide to pest and diseases of lawn, trees, flowers, and plants. It is color coded by type - lawn, soil, annuals, etc. - and even included a "gallery of weeds." I read through it like a coffee table book over three weeks, and in doing so pinpointed THREE problems I did not realize were problems. The most potentially devastating: bagworms in my conifers. Recommended for anyone who doesn't want to google for answers to their pest or disease problems and doesn't mind the book's enormous size. If you don't want to use the Ortho products, simply google for organic solutions.
