GHOST EFFECT: Zero Option
Our civilization has never been threatened by monsters. Only by ordinary people convinced they are doing the right thing.
The Cold War is over. Someone is already engineering what comes next.
On a rain-soaked highway outside Grozny, a Russian military convoy is destroyed. One officer survives — and what he saw could push Russia into war in Chechnya.
In Budapest, a young activist believes she is helping build a better Europe. Instead, she steps into the path of a covert network with reach inside governments and intelligence services on both sides of the Atlantic.
The intelligence world believes the operative known as Ghost died in a car crash. Attila Keller intends to keep it that way. Then the conspiracy reaches the woman and the little girl who have begun to make him visible again. Remaining dead is no longer an option.
From Moscow and Budapest to Oslo and Washington, separate trails converge on Terra Nova — a doctrine that promises lasting peace through integration. Its architects do not see themselves as monsters. They see controlled violence and expendable lives as the necessary price of a better world.
Keller must expose the operation without exposing himself, and decide how much of the man he has become is still allowed to survive.
The first casualty will not be a nation.
It will be trust.
Ghost Zero Option continues the larger Terra Nova story that began in Ghost The Price of Love, but it stands fully on its own. No prior reading is required.

About the author
Nikolay Ignatiev

The book reached #1 in Russian Historical Fiction, earning strong early reader praise for its cinematic scope and emotional weight.
His second novel, Ghost Directive: The Price of Love, expands his thematic focus into post–Cold War Europe, examining power, ideology, and the human cost of systems designed to control the future. The novel continues Ignatiev’s interest in moral ambiguity, psychological depth, and historically grounded geopolitical tension.
Ignatiev’s work centers on the collapse of systems, the price of power, and the personal choices made in moments of political and moral uncertainty. His storytelling blends historical realism with psychological nuance, favoring atmosphere and consequence over spectacle.
Based in Miami, he divides his time between writing, business consulting, and exploring the intersection of technology, politics, and storytelling.

An adrenaline-fueled espionage thriller set in the volatile aftermath of the Cold War, packing non-stop suspense into every single page.
Review of advance copy received from Author
Utterly compelling and brilliant, as good as Ludlum at his best.
Having discovered Blood and Caviar, which introduced me to the author, I rated it my favourite read of 2025.Then came this series ,Book I Ghost Directive, its intricate plotting and great storytelling I really enjoyed and it definitely deserved 5 stars. When I was sent the ARC FOR ghost Effect , it went to the top of my TBR pole (Sorry M.W.Craven)
It is a superb espionage thriller, set in the 1990's as communism fell and Perestroika began. It has a viewpoint that makes it stand out, as in from the Russian security services POV, as well as the characters from Book 1 in the series, Chernov,Keller, and Nick, there is also an emotional depth to this book that enhances rather than detracts from the plot.
The back story is anchored in historical fact and is all to plausible.Off the books operations , grieving senators, amoral agent runners and a cast of characters that are thoroughly human.
Nikolay Ignatiev is a superb thriller writer, in the genre of Ludlum and early Clancy and if you like them, you will be delighted to read any of his current 3 novels.

Thank you to the author for sharing an ARC of Ghost effect: Zero Option. I loved the story and after a long time found a thriller that truly kept me engaged. Some of the parts are particularly amazing (Ramzan’s interrogation by Ivanov had me sweating, TBH).
I will surely go back to read more by Nikolay Ignatiev
