A short and mostly interesting account of twin sisters' trips to St Catherine's Monastery in Sinai in the 1890s from England, along with historical background. Their part in bringing forgotten texts to light and into English translation is pretty amazing, and is covered in the recent book "The Sisters of Sinai", now in paperback and ebook.

Near past

In the near past of the 19th century twin sisters travel to the east to search for lost gospels in ancient monasteries . They succeed both in their modern outlook and imperviousness to complaining about the hardships of their trip. An intellectual journey in womanly courage.
