Microsoft Access programmieren mit VBA

Rate this book

There's one short bright moment in the book: When the author introduces conditional expressions and loops in the VBA programming language, he finds real-life similes that he always starts with: "My father knew this type of loop. He would say: You're not going out until you have not tidied up your room" or something like that. This is the one time when the author is very much writing for the intended target group. What is the target group? Users of Microsoft Access databases without prior programming experience. The book begins with definitions that would remain nothing but empty words to a beginner. It then introduces the graphical user interface on quite a range of pages: wasted space, because any experienced user of Windows programs will be able to find the right menus by herself.
The book then introduces the most important elements of the VBA programming language, which is ok, and has those bright moments mentioned in the beginning. But then comes a sudden jump where the book tries to give an overview over the Access object model, without actually making clear what is an object, an object hierarchy, etc. I'm not a beginner, but I imagine this book is quite useless for a person who is.
