But their bond will be tested through betrayal, sin, and the weight of a town determined to burn every woman who refuses to bow.

This is a perfect October spooky season read. As always Elena delivered sweet spicy spooky romance that I devoured in one sitting.

The yearning - had me on my kneeeees for this man. 10/10 no notes. The writing is beautiful and the fun nods to Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare were so great.

Thank you to the author for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Elias is supposed to be delivering letters to Penelope from one of her dear friends. This would be a simple task if Elias weren't a vampire and Penelope weren't a human. To make matters worse, Penelope's father is a town leader who is vocally against the creatures he deems "monsters." When Elias offers Penelope a deal, piano lessons and some of her blood in exchange for the letters, he expects her to say no. But Penelope is tired of being trapped in her father's house, subject to his rigid expectations. As Elias and Penelope spend more time together, their attraction is undeniable, and both will have to decide what they are willing to sacrifice for love.

I was so excited to read Elias’ story after meeting him in Dancing with the Headless Horseman. He is such an intriguing character, and this book made me love him even more. He has QUITE the mouth on him (literally and figuratively), and it’s perfection. Reading this book was like the best emotional rollercoaster. From shocked to angry to sad to amused--I felt it all! And at times, I was on the edge of my seat, especially in the last ten percent of the story. This is a short book, but it packs a punch. I also adored Penelope. My heart broke for her so many times, but her quiet strength was inspiring. And the tension between her and Elias, phew! The forbidden romance element was executed exceptionally well. This is the perfect Halloween read if you’re looking for spice, deep emotions, and unforgettable characters. Loved this one!

Thank you to Elena H Covens for an arc of their newest release, Drinking With A Vampire.

This book follows Elias, a vampire, and Penelope, the mayors daughter. Vampires and creatures/monsters are feared in the small town of Autumntun and there are strict curfews and rules, especially regarding the women in the town, to ensure they don’t get stolen away in the night.

Elias quickly connects with Penelope and they create a secret between them where they exchange favours which requires them to continue seeing each other.

I really enjoyed this novella and had such a fun time. Chapter 21 had me SHOOK I almost had a bone to pick with Elena but I absolutely loved the ending.

This was a perfect Halloween/Spooky season read and would recommend it for those who want something short and fun.

I honestly wish it was longer, I was having a good time with these characters and wasn’t ready for it to end yet.

Overall, I would rate this a 4.25⭐️ for the sole reason that I wanted more.

This book releases October 1, make sure to check it out!

Thank you for Elena H Covens for the opportunity to read this arc.

Because it was a novella, it was easy to follow and very quick paced. I enjoyed the plot and the characters in this one.

I do think the writing style of this one was even better than her first book.

Would recommend as a quick, easy fall read.

Elena H. Covens has delivered a truly exceptional Gothic vampire romance with Drinking with a Vampire. This novel is a masterclass in atmosphere, character development, and the slow burn of forbidden desire. From the very first page, I was utterly captivated by the rich tapestry of darkness, torment, and unexpected connection that Covens weaves.

The story introduces us to Penelope Adams, a young woman whose life has been a suffocating testament to obedience and silence. Raised under her father's stringent rule, her value is defined by her subservience, making the arranged marriage she faces seem like a preordained, albeit bleak, destiny. Penelope's quiet strength and burgeoning inner rebellion are immediately palpable, making her journey one that readers will root for with every beat of their hearts.

Then there is Elias, the enigmatic vampire burdened by centuries of immortal existence and the gnawing weight of his past transgressions. Covens masterfully imbues Elias with a profound sense of loneliness and a desperate yearning for solace, a stark contrast to the predatory reputation of his kind. His curse is not just immortality, but also the enduring echo of his sins. The introduction of Penelope into his world doesn't just disrupt his existence; it threatens to dismantle the very foundations of his carefully constructed isolation.

The burgeoning relationship between Penelope and Elias is the undeniable soul of this novel. It's a dance of hesitant curiosity, of shared vulnerability, and of a slowly unfolding, potent attraction. Covens excels at building this connection with exquisite detail. The forbidden nature of their bond, steeped in the conventions of a society that fears and loathes what Elias represents, only heightens its intensity. Their interactions are charged with unspoken desires and a profound understanding that transcends their vastly different existences. You can feel the walls around Elias's heart begin to crumble, and the flicker of hope ignite within Penelope, even as they both recognize the immense peril they court.

Drinking with a Vampire is steeped in a palpable Gothic atmosphere. The setting is not merely a backdrop; it becomes a character in itself, contributing to the sense of unease, ancient secrets, and looming danger. The town's determination to condemn any woman who dares to defy its rigid expectations adds a layer of societal oppression that perfectly complements the supernatural elements. The palpable threat of betrayal and the weight of sin create a constant tension that keeps you thoroughly engaged, wondering not only if Penelope and Elias can find solace in each other, but if they can survive the forces arrayed against them.

Covens writing is evocative and beautifully descriptive, painting vivid images of moonlit nights, shadowed castles, and the internal turmoil of her characters. The pacing is expertly handled, allowing the romance to blossom organically while simultaneously building the suspense surrounding the town's machinations and the darkness that surrounds Elias.

The theme of salvation through darkness is a particularly compelling aspect of this novel. Penelope, taught to fear the very shadows that Elias inhabits, finds an unexpected refuge and a path to self-discovery within them. It's a powerful exploration of finding light in the most unexpected places and the courage it takes to embrace what you've been conditioned to reject.

Drinking with a Vampire is more than just a vampire romance; it's a story about defying societal constraints, finding strength in vulnerability, and the transformative power of love, even in its most unconventional forms. Elena H. Covens has crafted a story that is both hauntingly beautiful and deeply satisfying. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to any fan of Gothic romance, vampire lore, and stories where love battles against all odds. A perfect 5-star read!

Dancing with the Headless Horseman was one of my top reads. Ya know ya girl had to jump on the chance to get an arc of Dancing with the Vampire and it did not disappoint!

Elias is our mmc and is tasked with delivering letters to our fmc, Penelope. Elias is a vampire and Penelope is a human. Here is where things get tricky. Penelope's father is the town leader that wants to keep the "monsters" away from their town, Autumntun.

Elias is considered to be one of those "monsters" since he is a vampire. Elias and Penelope come to a deal where Penelope is to teach Elias how to play the piano and some of her blood in exchange for every lesson, Elias will give her one of the letters. Penelope agrees because she is sick and tired of being stuck at home with ridiculous expectations from her father.

During their time spent together Elias and Penelope start to develop feelings for each other. You can feel their chemistry through the book. Penelope is to marry Henry, the suitor her father has chosen for her. Henry hunts vampires.

Penelope must choose a side..

Penelope and Elias are my new favorite book couple. This is the perfect October read. Another sweet, cozy, spooky read. I love that Penelope decides f**k it. I am not a woman who is going to follow these ghastly society norms. Elias is such a delectable, 'soft for her' vampire with a hilarious mouth on him.

Elias and Penelope have undeniable chemistry immediately! He offers her a choice, the first choice she’s ever really been given, to help him in return for letters from her long lost friend.

(It honestly pains me so much how women are treated in this time period. Henry tells her not to think? Like wtf dude!! It’s a wonder there isn’t more female murderers, I wouldn’t blame them)

Their bond grows and she quickly realizes she must make another choice… between a safe match and a life of servitude or a life of danger & passion, but ultimately freedom 🔥

I get that this may be a hard decision back then or even when this life is all you’ve known but cmon! I’d be climbing Elias like a tree!! Hold on tight spider monkey 😂

Elias has never known love, as a Vampire, he couldn’t could he? But Penelope is an addiction he can’t quit. Between her beauty and her beautiful music, he simply cannot stay away

His story is so tragic and sad. I felt so bad for him and I just wanted to hold him close and tell him it would be ok.

This was so freaking good! The passion, the yearning, the sacrifice 😮‍💨 the spice scenes were like another level, transporting me there, I am still just vibrating and I need a moment!

I love Elena’s writing so much! I want a monster boyfriend written by her 🥹

Thank you to Elena for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you are looking for a quick, forbidden love story with a yearning vampire and human with secret meetings, look no further!

Set in a town where monsters are lurking and are hunted by the townspeople. Penelope is expected to always to obey and listen to the men in her life (ew) and it is in her duty to marry and be a doting wife to her husband. Elias is a vampire who’s searching for a purpose in eternity. However one night Elias enters her room and offers her a deal: her blood and piano lessons for letters from her friend who had been missing but is actually perfectly safe and happy. Penelope had always been taught to fear vampires, but the longer she spends with Elias the more she realizes everything she’s known could be wrong. Will Elias finally find a spark within her? Will Penelope choose to follow duty or her heart?

This was more intense than I expected but also so fun! It had a lot of elements I like, such as clandestine meetings, forbidden romance, yearning, and creatures of the night. It was short, but the story was compelling and I adore Elias!

Eliaaaaaas!!! I was SO EXCITED to read his story after meeting him in Dancing with the Headless Horseman. Before that though, can we talk about the blessing that is Elena's writing? For a novella this world is incredibly immersive, and gets you immediately invested in both characters, while hoping for the best in a world that wants to keep these two apart. What starts as a beneficial exchange, turns into more as these two discover their attraction for each other is deeper than they could have imagined.

The essence of Eilas's isolation and loneliness also spoke to me, but seeing how Penelope changed that was nothing short of heartwarming. Society's view on vampires and the town's collective opinion always seemed be looming in the background, a reminder that the two of them should never really be together. As we read about them interacting and defying the odds, it makes you learn who the real monsters in this story really are. This is the perfect spooky read, for Halloween for anytime you need a little thrill.

OH. MY. GOD. This was insane in all the best ways. To start off- you really do have to read the headless horseman book before this. I post a lot of interconnected standalones- this isn’t like that. You really need to read this series in order. I was blushing and looking my mind over the dedication- Elena had me ready to die from the start. Elias and Penelope were so- dreamy together. It’s forbidden and dark and spicy and everything I crave in my Halloween monster novels. I can’t wait for more from this series. I need a vampire daddy to want me the way Elias wanted Pen... I need any man to need or love me the way Elias does. I will say there’s a lot to Elias character- it may take a re read or two. Some of it slipped my mind the first time. But it’s really deep things that are super important to build and understand him as a whole. I really did love it. I’m so lucky to be on this team and working with this amazing author and Taylin… love them both.

"She had kissed ruin and called it salvation."

♡ Vampire Romance
♡ Slow-ish Burn
♡ Forbidden Desires
♡ "F*ck it."
◇ Religious Propaganda
◇ Misogyny

Elena H. Covens is quickly becoming a favorite when it comes to monster/paranormal romances. She manages to pack so much into such a short story without feeling like the pacing is off.

Elias reminds me of my favorite tortured, white-haired vampire from Baldur's Gate 3. His struggle against his nature, his self-loathing and determination not to be the monster that created him, all the while secretly wishing for a love he doesn't believe he deserves.

Penelope truly captured my religious trauma-riddled heart. She is soft and kind, and tries her best to see the light in the darkness, despite the role that has been thrust upon her.

Thank you so much to Elena and her team for the gifted advanced reader copy! I am eagerly anticipating where this series takes us next!

Coming straight off of Dancing with the Headless Horseman, I was already excited for Elias's story. I had an inkling that it would be Penny and I am so happy it was!

Penny has been living a very structured life she was essentially trapped in. But all of that quickly changes once Elias barges into her bedroom, I mean life. 😏

Watching Elias warm his cold heart and Penny open her eyes to the possibilities was amazing to see. These two together is like a chocolate frosty and French fries. From the outside, it might not make sense until you've tried it and then it is one of the best combos.

This one is definitely a rougher ride than Eleanor and Osiris. I gots a bit emotional 😢. Loved getting to see Eleanor and Osiris again!

Can't wait to see more of this little world. Sad I have to wait a year though!

Thank you so much Elena for allowing me to read an ARC copy. :)
All thoughts are my own and not impacted by being apart of the early release.

I am new to monster romance and this series is a great introduction to the genre.
Elena's writing is absolutely beautiful. The way the MMC speaks about the FMC is poetic. Brb while I start a fight with my husband for not speaking about me like he does.
There was great banter, SO MUCH YEARNING, and lots of spicy moments.
Our vampire has quite the mouth on him. Wink wink. ;)
Elena always has a way of making you wish her novellas were full sized books.

PS- Elena, thank you so much for including my name in your acknowledgments. I screamed when I saw it.

WOW! The tension, the yearning, the spice!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Dancing with the Headless Horseman so I was excited to read this one too. If you want a fun, short, spicy read these books are perfect for spooky season 🖤

Elena has such a beautiful, unique writing style. The MMC, Elias yearns for the FMC, Penelope. The way he speak of love, is so beautiful.

Penelope is trying to find herself in adulthood and has to decide between pleasing her father and following her heart.

🖤 Vampire x Human
🖤 Yearning
🖤 Monsters in a small town
🖤 Spice 🌶️

Thank you so much to Elena H. Covens for letting me be a part of the street team and for my ARC copy of Drinking with a Vampire. This is a must read for Halloween season and I think this series, aka also Dancing with the Headless Horseman, is the perfect way to get into monster romance.

With that being said, I loved everything about this book! Since reading Dancing With The Headless Horseman I have been patiently waiting for Elias' story and it did not let me down. I already knew I had a thing for vampires but this man is just something else, the way he cares for Penelope and just wants what's best for her honestly melts my heart but he still has his little freaky side which I ate up of course! Overall 10/10 recommend to anyone who's looking for a fun and spicy halloween novella!

I'm loving the books in this series. I loved book one (dancing with the headless horseman) but this one I ADORED!

Though we do need to brush past the fact that I pictured Elias looking like Marceline the Vampires Dad from Adventure for a fair bit of the story and in book 1 when he was introduced. No clue why as thats not how he's described but I digress 🤣💀

But seriously if you want a book with monsters/vampires, yearning, secret rendezvous and a whole wedding crash scene that's epic beyond words you’re gonna wanna read this!

After meeting Elias in Dancing with the Headless Horseman, I was so excited to read his story and to read more of Elena's writing.

Elias gets tasked to deliver letters to Penelope. Instead of giving the letters, he ends up stalking Penelope till he gets the courage to talk to her. To spend more time with her, he proposes that she teach him how to play the piano in exchange for the letters.

This book has pinning, yearning, and the sweetest forbidden love. We can tell the main characters are absolutely made for each other. Did the end make me cry? Yes. Do I forgive Elena for the damage? Yes, because she gives us a wonderful HEA with an epilogue that alludes to the possibility of seeing more of these two.

Many thanks to Elena for giving me the chance to review a copy of this book!
