Rate this book
Tired of the AI hype? Frustrated by agent demos that crumble in the real world? It’s time to stop chasing shiny objects and start building with principles.
The AI agent landscape is flooded with "get-rich-quick" tutorials and abstract academic papers, leaving a massive gap for the real-world developer. Principles of Building AI Agents is the definitive, engineering-first guide for the "Pragmatic Builder" who needs to create intelligent, reliable, and production-ready autonomous systems. Written by Codexia, this book cuts through the noise and delivers a principles-first approach. Forget vendor lock-in and fragile prototypes; learn the foundational patterns of AI agent development that will remain relevant no matter how the frameworks evolve.Inside, you will discover how Master the Anatomy of an Move beyond simple chatbots and understand the core components—Model, Tools, Memory, and Prompt—that power truly agentic systems.Engineer Production-Grade Learn the art of instruction, crafting detailed "constitutions" for your agents that ensure reliable and predictable behavior.Build with The Best Get hands-on with practical, in-depth chapters on both LangChain and CrewAI, understanding the trade-offs and knowing when to use each.Solve Agentic Go from "goldfish to elephant" by implementing robust short-term, long-term, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) memory systems.Architect Advanced Agentic Master multi-agent systems, the supervisor pattern, and state management with graphs to handle complex, real-world workflows.Deploy with Take your agent from prototype to production with concrete guidance on deployment architecture, security, monitoring, and operational excellence. This book is not for executives looking for high-level strategy or for absolute beginners. It is for developers, data scientists, and technical product managers who are ready to get their hands dirty with autonomous systems programming and build the next generation of AI. If you’re tired of the "AI snake oil" and want the definitive guide to building robust AI agents, this is the book you've been waiting for.Scroll up and click "Buy Now" to start building intelligent agents the right way.

Terrific Guide to Understanding and Building AI Agents

This excellent book provides both the foundation knowledge and the practical skills needed to understand and create AI agents. It clearly lays out best practices for how agents can be architected, refined, implemented, and deployed into production.

At the implementation level, the book reviews the major agent development frameworks, weighing their pros and cons based on the level of abstraction and control they provide. Subsequent chapters provide a detailed comparison of CrewAI (higher abstraction, lower control) and LangChain (lower abstraction, higher control). Complete code examples and real-world implementation scenarios are detailed for each framework.

Equally important, the book equips readers with a strong grasp of the principles of agent design. These insights will remain valuable even as specific tools and frameworks continue to evolve. The author writes with clarity and authority, offering expert guidance, practical tips, and encouragement for building robust AI agent systems.

Highly recommended for anyone serious about learning or advancing in the field of AI agents.

A Must Read for Serious AI Developers

This book gives clear and practical guidance for building real AI agents that work beyond simple demos. It explains complex ideas like prompts, memory systems, and multi agent patterns in a way that is easy to understand. I appreciated the hands on approach with LangChain and CrewAI which made it simple to apply in real projects. The focus on reliability and production ready systems sets it apart from other AI books. It helps you build agents with confidence and purpose. Perfect for developers who want to master AI without the hype.

Lot of code in this book

This book gives a lot of information about AI agents, what they are, and sample prompts on how they would answer questions from a customer as an example. But it seems like half the book is just code so it isn’t something you read as much as copy for code. Not sure if that makes it a great book to read.
