The Absurdly Clever yet Morally Questionable Interpreter

Rate this book
Betrayed. Banished. Back with a vengeance. When Ambrose Tweed is unjustly exiled from his corrupt homeland, he finds himself stranded in the deserts of a faraway country. But when fate offers him a return ticket as the interpreter for a rich, cruel textile merchant, he hatches a scheme so outrageous, so convoluted, that it is arguably the worst scheme ever hatched.

His plan? Convince his entire country that his employer is no mere merchant but a fearsome foreign ambassador declaring war. What begins as a truly sweet and harmless act of political vengeance spirals into an international crisis, complete with terrified aristocrats who want to keep their heads, dangerous criminals who want their slice of the chaos, and a protagonist desperately trying to bouy up a sinking lie.

Will he bring down the government that wronged him, or will his own web of deception catch him first?

📖 The Absurdly Clever Yet Morally Questionable Interpreter is a witty, fast-paced political satire packed with ridiculous twists, high-stakes bluffing, and a protagonist whose judgment is questionable at best. Perfect for fans of historical adventure, dry humor, and elaborate cons that spiral out of control.

Loved the premise of this book, such a unique angle to have the plot have so much to do with the ethics of interpretation. I was hooked on the story since the beginning. It felt very original and unique.

There is so much clever writing, I often found myself laughing out loud or making notes of good prose. The characters are developed so well. I had a love-hate relationship with the main character, Ambrose Tweed. His personality really draws you in. Intriguing plot twists, romance, comedy, this book has it all!
