Very much of its time. Mums have shopping baskets, while dad's have hats, straws are made of paper, magicians borrow ribbons from girls at parties (because girls wear ribbons and aren't magicians), all adults carry matches & there are £1 notes. Even more dates is the patronising, fake tone. Some of the tricks are either wordplay or optical illusions rather than tricks & few would be impressive, even done well. The kids in the photos are very amusing. It's all very amusing, in fact, which is the real value of this book.
