I very much enjoy the poetry of Deborah Harvey. Why? Not least for the journey of well-chosen words: the thrill of each line, or the evocative descriptions of Nature. If you're looking for accessible poetry (or poetry for beginners), I suggest this is an ideal place to begin. Here you will find a plethora of colourful imagery (that you won't imagine on your own), which will enrich the inner world of any reader, from beginner to intermediate, or student to advanced, there's something here for everybody. I have had the privilege of meeting Ms Harvey on just a few occasions, and find her to be both an exceptionally ethical person, and genuinely-intentioned in her approach to others. It's even in her poetry. Perhaps this is why she's such a joy to read.
Suffice to say, a highly recommended Writer, Poet, and humane person, IMHO.
This book of poetry is Deborah Harvey's second. Many of the poems require several readings and some research to fully comprehend them. For example, I was misled by the fact that I know Harvey has a fascination for the "white horse" images found on several British hillsides in reading "Cailpeach", which is actually about the mythical Kelpie of Scotland. I am in the process of rereading these excellently-crafted poems over and over, and will have more to say at a later time. Meanwhile, why don't you get a copy and do the same?
