Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon to the Old Testament Scriptures: Numerically Coded to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, with an English Index of More Than 12,000 Entries

Rate this book
With Hebrew, as with many other languages, mastery of the alphabet is the first and highest hurdle to jump for one who desires some working knowledge of the language. But this edition of "Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon to the Old Testament," being numerically coded to "Strong's Exhaustive Concordance," is designed especially for the Bible student who has no knowledge whatever of Hebrew, who is unable even to recognize a singe Hebrew letter. This work is a translation of the "Lexicon Manuale Hebraicum et Chaldaicum in Veteris Testamenti Libros," of Dr. William Gesenius, late Professor at Halle.

A better guide to reading Gesenius in English than the various versions by other scholars who add too much (and take out too much). Not that Tregelles doesn't slip in more than a few comments to argue with Gesenius on meanings.

My copy of this book is so worn out that I will soon have to buy another...

This book is constantly being used right now for the research that appears on my website at http://LeeFitzsimmons.com
