Although it's a few years old I found this to be a good way to get familiar with many of the intricacies related to FPGA design (devices, architectures, and applications). In particular, I enjoyed learning about the techniques used to leverage the parallelism of reconfigurable devices (case studies, CORDIC, block floating-point, etc.) and algorithms used for automated layout/timing/optimization.
