For thousands of years, the ancient art of Tai Chi has been shrouded in mystery. Tai Chi An Afriasian Resource for Health and Longevity removes the mystery and offers enticing information for today. This is a book for those who desire to transform the body through consistent, non-impact exercise and diet. In it, you will discover a simple set of exercises to increase physical stamina and flexibility, mental alertness, and the spiritual discipline of quietness. This book also explores medical information from research using Tai Chi in a variety of recuperative regimens. Read the results of studies, compare the conclusions, and try the program for yourself. Tai Chi is not a miracle cure; it is miraculously accessible to everyone. It requires no special equipment and very little time and space. However, the benefits far outweigh any investment of time and resources to become stronger and healthier.Tai Chi An Afriasian Resource for Health and Longevity makes doing Tai Chi simple, easy, natural, enjoyable, and productive.
I am student in Baba's school and was lucky to come across this book. Baba is a really interesting person to talk with and has had an interesting life; this book was an easy, good read.
Baba also has a unique perspective of being black and taught by a black instructor. His tai chi teaching is more inclusive and holistic, esp in regards to diet. I don't agree entirely on his strict views but I do think it's worth thinking about feeling healthy vs not being sick, know where your food comes from and pay attention to what it does to you, that sort.
There's also a chapter connecting Africa to tai chi, bit controversial. He admits this view is contested. I'm no historian and can't comment on the validity.
I think there is a lot of information in here, but this is also my first book on tai chi!
