Rate this book
Kodiak shifter Mark Dion woke up naked in an unfamiliar bedroom after getting drunk at a work party. Before he has time to process the one-night-stand, he is thrust into a chain of events, which only seem to grow more complicated by the day.

The boar king is out of the picture, but his son is still very much a problem for the Urewera Unit. After General Lancaster sabotages an assignment, Mark finds himself temporarily in charge of the team.

With pandemonium surrounding the boar clan and their associates, along with a new apprentice… It is the worst time for a physical attraction he cannot control and an unexpected job offer. Right now, when every action is crucial, what will Mark decide? Will he even stay in Redcliffe?

AUTHOR Johanna M Rae is a former fashion designer and married mother of three. She lives with her family, and two adorable ragdoll cats. Balancing family life and her writing schedule doesn't always leave much time for leisure, but in the quiet moments, Johanna can be found with her nose in a book or crocheting up a storm.

There is a common theme when you read Johanna's stories. Underdogs and outcasts form a 'chosen family' - people with something to prove or overcome, who will stop at nothing to protect their own. You'll also be knee-deep in suspense, plot twists, witty banter and plenty of humor. Don't forget the romance... You're not going to want to miss that! Until then, there is coffee to be had.

I loved this book from start to finish and I’m not going to lie, when it came to the epilogue I dragged it it as much as I could because I didn’t want it to end. Like the rest of the books in this amazing shifter series, you are pulled in from the first page and captured until the very last. Danny has been a firm favourite of mine since the first book. So obviously in this book I was kind of distraught with what happened to him.

Without giving too much away, the story starts with Mark and Laura hooking up in a one night stand. Which neither of them remembers. Despite the situation, neither of them want to take things further. And yet, they can’t stop thinking about the other. Even though they fit each other perfectly, they both are too stubborn. That is until Mark makes a proposition which leads them into something that they can’t deny any longer.

Meanwhile Mark finds himself in charge of the entire team due to Danny’s incident. He’s also given a job opportunity from General Lancaster. So not only is his mind full of Laura, but also keeping the team safe.

I love this entire series. And I seriously can’t wait for the next book, The Peacemaker to be released! I guarantee anyone who is starting these books will not be disappointed. It’s packed with action, humour and hotness! What more could you ask for?!

The Bloodhound is a very well written by Johanna Rae. I admit, I am a fan and have read all the others. These books are somewhat stand alone books, but you are better off reading them in sequence so you can get the underlying story line that is there. Each book focuses on one of the agents of ISIC and a mission so to speak so that in itself is a "complete story" but there is an overall plot that you will get because the author explains it in bits and pieces, but I think it would be just easier to read them all, plus you will love them so you may as well start at the beginning.

As always the author comes up with a unique plot for this one that has some nice twists and turns, reveals a few secrets we have been waiting for but also makes us realize that there are still more hidden from us. The pace of the book is perfect, steadily following along this nicely developed plot I mentioned. This book is tough to put down, which poses a slight problem since the book is not short, so you will either have to have some will power, dedicate a weekend or be able to read very fast.

As I mentioned each book focuses on a certain agent, which doesn't mean you don't hear more about the others. This time the author tells us a lot more about Mark, also know as the bloodhound. Oh boy does he have it cut out for him in this one! Thankfully Laura is a worthy "opponent". These two struggle quite a bit but are quite a nice pair. I am definitely looking forward to see how these two continue on in the future.

I really enjoy how the author continues her character development throughout each book and continues to tell us more about the characters she already "covered" in her prior books. I for one am hooked and can't wait to read the next one. I sure hope it won't be as long a wait as it was for this one, but the wait was worth it. Having recently been in New Zealand I have definitely gained even more appreciation since it is truly a beautiful country and I have to go back there to explore it some more. 10 days there was definitely not enough!

I can definitely recommend this book but more importantly the entire series!

I had been waiting for this book for what seemed like ages and it was definitely worth the wait.

Mark and Laura came together in an unexpected way with neither of them remembering it happening. These two were constantly at each other and not in a good way. Upon more thought, they embarked on a secret relationship as they didn't expect it to go anywhere. It is fun to see what these two get up to with their fumbling ways as they get closer to forming their own relationship.

And the way the rest of the team find out about their relationship had me laughing hard as it is so embarrassing for the two of them.

This book was definitely worth the wait and I can't wait to read the next chapter in this series, The Peacekeeper.

I love this book for so many reasons 😍 Classic case of opposites attract, with the amazing mind of Johanna Rae you can be certain to read about worlds unheard of, with creatures you’d never imagine existed. Mark is hands down one of the most interesting shifters I’ve read about, and true to his bearish nature he’s easily the most stubborn & lovable Therian in the series..... I cannot wait for the peacemaker....I read this series too quickly, but it’s easy to do when you come across such great reads...... Do yourself a favor and read Johanna Rae she’s my go to author when I need an escape from reality, the worlds she creates Are unforgettable.

Loved it

I've been waiting for Mark's story and this book didn't disappoint. We knew he'd be with Laura, but watching these two bump heads and debt their feelings was kind of amusing. Loved the way we saw a continuation of the stories of our other Therian favorites. Can't wait until the next book!

An exciting series!

I’m loving this series so much!!
Continuing this series with book four, The Bloodhound by Johanna Rae, proves that sticking together is imperative as the obstacles the Unit were facing are still at large; as we get deeper in to the chaos more truths start to surface which leads to more incidents for the Until to be exposed to. Although this is multiply POV we get to witness more of Mark and the inner turmoil he’s struggling with as well as more of all the other members throughout.

This series has opened my eyes to a new world of reading, I’m absolutely addicted.
There are such a remarkable mix of characters in here; personalities which range from jokesters, laid back, sassy, vulnerable, intensely broody and fun loving. There is no shortage of events so you’ll find yourself flicking the pages until the end.
I can’t wait for more!!
This comes recommended.

I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways and have chosen to give my honest opinion about it.
The only slight issue I had with this book is that I struggled to gain traction and context of the book, whereas other series novels, even if you booked up a book midway through the series without any context, you could still mostly keep up and understand what's happened and what's happening (if the author's writing style is clear/the context isn't overly complicated). Besides that, I found the idea behind the book to be very interesting, with an exciting plot and entertaining characters, this book was definitely a joy ride!
