This a fun world where fairytales are intertwined with history and you never know who you'll meet next. Evangeline is full of hope and willing to go to extremes to do what she thinks is right. While she occasionally makes stupid decisions for the sake of the plot, I really enjoyed her brashness. The books are a fun, twisting tale full of betrayals and magic.

I haven't read Caraval so I'm probably missing a lot of easter eggs and backstory, but that didn't stop my enjoyment of the stories. Despite dealing with love and heartbreak, these were a quick, light read and worth checking out.

This book has my heart, there's not enough words to describe how beautifully Stephanie Garber described each character, how she gave depth to them. The thing that peaks my interest is how even the smallest detail actually connects to something bigger. Not a single line of this book is unimportant, loved every single page. And the protagonist, Evangeline was perfect. Her character development throughout the series is just impeccable, how at first she was scared but later on recognised her power and owned up to it. Not to mention JACKS, jacks was everything. The perfect mysterious male lead, who eventually captures every reader's heart. The book was one hell of a ride, in my opinion it's a must read.
