She wasn’t supposed to fall.
He wasn’t supposed to care.

Seraphina doesn’t take risks, not with her heart. She’s spent years keeping her emotions locked away, knowing that love always comes at a cost.

Then Azriel walks in.

Reckless. Unapologetic. Impossible to ignore. A boy with a past he won’t talk about and a look that makes her feel things she shouldn’t.

"I can’t explain it. But by the way, you look at me… it feels like you’re asking me questions I’m not even sure how to answer."

His voice is quiet, but his words crash through her like a storm.

"Like you’ve been searching for something, and now that you’ve found it, you don’t know what to do next."

She wants to deny it. To say it’s nothing.
But it isn’t. Because from the moment she met him, nothing has made sense.

"I want to see you again."

And just like that, everything changes.

What starts as a spark becomes an inferno.
What feels like destiny comes at a price.

Because love like this doesn’t come without consequences.
And once their worlds collide, nothing will ever be the same.

A fast-paced, all-consuming romance about fate, longing, and the choices that change everything.

Jade Strings pulled me in with its raw emotion and lush writing. The characters feel so real—flawed but unforgettable—and their struggles hit deep. The world is rich and vivid, making every scene feel alive. And that cliffhanger! It left me reeling in the best way. I’m already counting down the days for book 2—can’t wait to see where the story goes next. Definitely worth a read!

Jade Strings has the dramatic impact of a 7.5 tonne truck barreling into me. I'm not sure what that would truly feel like, physically I mean, but the bone crushing emotion Gait has proffered us, has literally made me sob.

This is a beautiful story about fates' hand both giving and snatching people from our lives..

The main characters are two people having their fair share of dramatic history, loss and a shared fear of abandonment that glues them together.
Rock god and a barmaiden, perfect combination.

I honestly love this book so much, and I'm sad I haven't been able to finish it until now.

It captivated me from the start, and though I was expecting something brimmed with fantasy, my normal go to, this book broke the mold and gave us fated mates, but human? Like the real life implications of a fated romance. Modern settings and easily connectable characters, truly had me absorbed in the story, I love the character names. Different and yet feeling familiar, a touch of Gaits roots showing through, perhaps.

I can't wait to read the rest of the series, although this beautiful book has ended, there is still a lot more to say and I look forward to getting my hands on them.
A totally heartbreaking finale shall not keep me from my destined reading journey.

My favourite bit:
'Her laughter filled the space between us, and her lips found mine in a kiss that felt like it was meant to erase every mile, every moment of distance we'd endured.'

Well worthy of my 5 shiny stars.

The first 80% is a beautiful love story, about taking chances, trust and how to build strong relationships despite hardship. The final 20% has an unexpected plot twist leading to an epic and catastrophic climax, and the inevitable cliffhanger-y goodness that will keep you riveted and in dire need of the upcoming sequel.

Key trigger here is loss.
This book oozes pure gut wrenching feelings in that final 20%. So do not read if you can't cope with that. It is a key point though throughout the story, so I hope you will take a chance.

A debut author/book for me. The cover drew my eye, and the blurb had me one-clicking it.

Azriel
Ryder/Asher/Cade are members of the band with Azriel. They’ve been friends for a while. They dream of making it big. But fortune has not been kind lately, down on their luck, they just want a break….

Seraphina
“Sera” works in a bar, she’s also in her last year at University studying an option that wasn’t her first choice! (Sera and her best friend Mia lodge/work together) She was a singer/songwriter, until parents died 5 years ago. After they died she just couldn’t face all those memories that her music brought back to her! 😞

Meeting at the bar where Sera works was just electric ⚡️ sparks flew…. And they both realised their lives had changed…. But for the better? You need to read on 😉

It’s very much one step forward, two steps back… I understand where Sera was scared, but it did get just a little tedious 🙄 I kept shouting at my kindle (which for me usually signals I’m immersed in the world that’s being created) for her to seize the day. Azriel also made mistakes, but was willing to try and make this new connection that they had work.

It’s almost a small town romance vibe, with a splash of angst, well until the end…. Then I’d say it became a deluge!

Loved the banter within the boys on the band, and how they had each other’s backs. And the friendship between Sera and Mia was just so close, a true friendship/sisterhood.

We also have a mystery to solve….. who’s sending the flowers? And why are Azriel and Sera dreaming of one another? And there may or may not be another budding romance 🥰 could that be the next book? 🤞

OMG!!! The cliffhanger….. my kindle nearly went out the window!!! That second book had better be released soon 😱

Sera has experienced massive loss with both her parents passing away when she was a teenager. She went to live with her Aunt and Uncle, who only want the best for her.
Sera first sees Azrial in a dream, and it freaks her out. Even more so when he shows up at the bar, she works at the next day to play a gig with his band. Come to find out, he also dreamed about her but it's her voice he remembers because she was singing. Well, that's strange because Sera hasn't performed since her parents died. (I'm really hoping that this part is more addressed in the next book because there wasn't much development in getting her involved with music again.) After some miscommunication back and forth, young love prevails and they are happy together. Azrial gets some amazing news in regards to his band, and right before things can get started on the road to success, disaster strikes in the form of Sera's ex. The book ends on a pretty serious cliffhanger.
Okay, so I enjoyed the book a lot, and it's a really easy read. I think the author did a great job of introducing us to the FMC and MMC and covering their back stories, too. I do feel like the first half of the book was covered in more detail, and the second half was a bit rushed with big gaps of time in between chapters. All the gaps were explained, but it just made me feel a certain way to "miss" so much when the beginning was so detailed.
I definitely suggest reading this book, and I'm looking forward to book 2 and to find out what's going on!!

3.5 stars, rounded down. I enjoyed the story but the writing was a bit simplistic for me, and was a bit distracting from the story itself. It was hard to get into the story, but once it was going it kept my attention and interest. Heads up, this story has a MASSIVE cliffhanger!
I liked Sera's character, but Azriel's character was a bit too insecure for my tastes. I prefer strong MC's, not vulnerable personally. Both of them have had their own hardships through life, which strongly impacted their characters and personalities.
I wish the book had introduced Julian a bit clearer, he kinda seemed to just come out of nowhere.
🌶️🌶️/5 stars, some basic spice but those scenes were on the vague side.

Forewarning: this ends on a very big cliffhanger.

Sera and Azriel are two characters that anyone can easily relate to. Struggling to open up to one another due to trauma in their pasts. I loved the banter between the band members and the electric connection between the MFC and MMC. There are things that you wouldn't expect, such as why are Sera and Azriel dreaming of each other and who is sending Sera gifts.

For me personally, this was a two out of five on a spice level. I like my men a bit more dark and a bit more dominating, with the spice scenes being a bit more descriptive. I will admit it took me a bit to really get into this book, but if small-town romances that give a simplistic feel are your cup of tea, then this may interest you.

Romance with Suspense and Awesome Characters

Like: I really enjoyed how all the characters were developed. There’s real depth and chemistry, with the two main characters complementing each other perfectly. It’s an amazing love story that unfolds naturally, growing stronger over the course of the story, with unexpected plot twists that keep you hooked from start to finish.

Dislike: Absolutely nothing to dislike.

Recommended for: Perfect for romance lovers who enjoy a bit of suspense and crave character-driven stories.

I loved the way this story started. Sera and Azriel both, dreamed of each other the night before they met, they were both quite surprised. This is a beautiful story of loss and love found. Beware of the cliff, I will be waiting for what comes next! I LOVED IT!!! No Spoilers! I Highly Recommend!.

I received an ARC and I am leaving this Totally Honest Review because I choose to and think that this is a good book!!!

This is my first Elen Gait read and I absolutely amazing looking forward to more of her work. This story is absolutely beautiful and the characters are very realistic with their own flaws. The way the book progresses kept me hooked to it and the cliffhanger left me wanting more.
