Grief is one of humanity's common threads. Most have encountered it (grief) at some point in time. And its impact is like no other. I have felt it. To be honest, it felt like a powerful wave that threatened to overwhelm me. It left me completely awash in complex emotions and alternating states of being. I did not know how to deal with or function with what I felt.
I have been working hard to reconnect with myself. I greatly appreciate books like this that assist in identifying and naming the struggles we face. I wanted to like this book but I find it hard to appreciate work that feels like it borrows the work of others, mainly great philosophers and more contemporary writers about loss, making it appear to be their own original writings or ideas. I read another book written this year that also was nonfiction and it had the same issues though not related to loss (they 'borrowed from' or basically plagiarized the art of war).
