Being a biographical interpretation of Cesar Chavez' life, "Cesar Chavez" is a completely non-fiction book that introduces young readers to the work that Cesar Chavez devoted himself to and the change he brought about.

Being a biography, this book very accurately represents language, culture, setting, and the relationships between characters. Following real-life events, the author doesn't have to create so much as just show the difference that naturally arose on the side of the migrant workers. The migrant workers were being treated unfairly and their rights were being ignored until Cesar Chavez and his movement finally succeeded.

All in all, this is a book of approachable reading level that the Hispanic students can easily relate to, and students of other ethnic minorities can learn from, as the message is universal: stand up against something that is unjust.

This book is called a "Rookie Biography." It is a very simple book to read. Each sentence is made up of only 5-8 words. This is a great book for beginner readers, and a great starter book for introducing student's to biographies. I thought this book was very informative about Cesar Chavez's life and contributions. This is the perfect book for an early primary social studies lesson.
