As a Ruby on Rails developer of less than a year and no formal training, I was excited to use this book to develop my skillset. I was, however, disappointed by this book. I went through the first project, and I have been having some troubles. The testing section seemed confusing to me, as I have not done a lot of testing in the past, so I ended up skipping it. The book then did not specify what the root page is and how to use Bootstrap. Because Bootstrap is not properly installed, the pages all looks off. The sidebar section did not work for me, and the only way I know how to fix it by adding the all the contents to the recipe controller.

All in all I think this book is lacking. I wish that the book showed what each file looks like once it is has been completed or had a direct link to the code samples. The book is not very helpful for newer developers, and I am not sure how it holds up with someone has a lot more experience than myself.

I really recommend this book for advanced beginner or intermediate Rails Developer. It fills the gaps unfilled by other tutorials available in the market.

This book takes an impressive approach to learn Rails. You will do 10 amazing projects throughout this book. This is not a spoon-feed tutorial. You have to think and figure out how to complete your project. It teaches you how to think and act as a Rails Developer in a systematic way.

The book is very systematic and well written. You will definitely be more confident with your Rails code after completing this book. Besides, this book also gives you the key to mastering gems like Devise and framework like Bootstrap.

If you want to level up your Rails proficiency from mediocrity, this is the book for you.

This book is so riddled with errors. The author has a poor writing style, uses outdated gems and does n't even bother to explain his steps, he just pastes code without showing filenames and expects novices to know what to do. Very terrible book. Waste of money and effort. It should never have been published in the first place without a team of solid technical reviewers going over it. Shameful.
