The Path of the Celts: Part Two: The Trials of Morrígan is so much more than a fantasy book about religious tolerance. This is a story that weaves together love, family loyalty, heartbreak, sacrifice and loss. I was not expecting the emotional rollercoaster that book two delivers, but the writer does a beautiful job of giving the perspectives of every character by using intelligent inner dialogues and “what if” conversations between the characters that are heartbreakingly real. I actually took my time and re-read many chapters, because the imagery is so descriptively alive and the characters so enduring and engaging that I did not want to miss any detail of their journey.
Please keep in mind that this book is unlike Book One, which was focused on outlining plot, introducing characters and creative world-building. Book Two really is where this young writer’s talent begins to shine. It is interesting to note that for a book that is filled with gripping action, the writer does not take the easy way out by relentlessly pounding out gruesome and grueling fight scenes one after the other. Book Two does contain intense action scenes, yes, but the writer is much more nuanced and alluring than that. Each primary character represents a singular piece of humanity that leaves the reader with the overall idea of the book’s essential core…that our existence might have a much higher purpose and meaning than we ever realize on the surface.
From what I understand, the author is almost finished Book Three. I hope it doesn’t take too much longer.
Highly recommend!
