I would rate it 3.5/5

First of all, congrats to the author of being a published author!!

This book is about 3 friends dealing with their past traumas and how those traumas have affected their relationships as an adult. I found this book to be really touching and relatable. There were some points where I actually cried as I could see myself in those characters. Each character was written beautifully and their emotions felt very raw and real. I do think others could relate to them as well. Overall, it was a good story, good book!

Thank you to Saturn Maeve for providing me with an ARC of Twenty-Somethings in exchange for an honest review.

Twenty-Somethings was a pretty unique and enjoyable read.

One thing that I liked about this book is that it explored trauma, death, alcoholism, and mental health. Saturn did a great job touching on these topics.

I liked that we got to know each character deeper and learned about their lives. I feel like we don't always get to dive that deep beyond the main characters in all stories, so this was a cool experience. It was great to see how much the characters have grown from beginning to end. They all deserved a happy ending.

This book can get heavy at times. I recommend checking for trigger warnings before starting.

This was a great debut, and I look forward to their future works!

interesting and good story!

I put out feelers in a fb group looking for thrillers and the author dropped this in the replies. So I applied for the read. It was advertised as romance instead of thriller, but it seemed like it would have suspense too vibes so I figured I would give it a try.

The story follows Rae, Mars, and Phoebe on their own paths with trauma/addiction/healing. This was a very different read for me. The story was good but felt rushed and I think so many POVs contributed to that for me. This is the first one I’ve read with more than 2/3 POVs. So it could just be something I personally need to read more of to get used to it.

I would’ve loved a series of maybe dual POVs to play the story line out more so it didn’t feel rushed or like things were missing.

This read was interesting and good though. I give it a solid 3-3.5 stars. Which in my book means it was good but I know Amazon’s star rating system is different…and everyone else’s may be different too.
I liked the story, but maybe you’ll love it! Check it out!

Loved it! I was able to follow along, kept interested with the love interests and slight mystery that is the sister's lives. The characters are a part of the LGBTQ community (I apologize if I did not get the full inclusion of that or word anything incorrectly), in a happy and everyday way and not a preaching way, for anyone who may have a concern or curiousness about that part. I think it being from multiple perspectives vs just one pov is what kept my interest and helped me follow along. It allowed to give enough detail about each person and story to know what's going on, but also didn't drag it out a ton with too much info. Great for a debut novel. With that were a number of typos, but easily fixed!

ARC Review
I was so excited to get to read Twenty-Somethings by Saturn Maeve because they are a local indie author.
Twenty-Somethings follows Raelyn, Marlowe and Phoebe as they live and grow together. They all have had significant trauma in their past and are learning to live and have adult relationships.
Each character was well developed and the story and their lives sucked you in. You felt all of the emotions.

Saturn Maeve’s debut novel!

Raelyn, Marlowe and Phoebe have all had some challenges through their life but are working though it all with each others help and support. Saturn did a wonderful job at shining light and bringing awareness to such tough topics with their mental health and trauma.

Such a great book to read for pride!

Thank you to Saturn for the arc!

I received an ARC. This book gave me Friends vibes but with queer characters and mental health representation. It was so refreshing to see the characters working through trauma in therapy in an honest way.

The style was very interesting. I liked that the chapters had the dates and the POV on them as they jumped from day and character to the next. And this helped to stay on track. Otherwise it would have been too confusing with all the characters and name changing.

The story was interesting as well. I loved the LGTBQ+ inclusion and ally ship. Although I think the author did poor Wyatt a bit dirty. He was such a good guy, helping and being a great ally. Whereas Marlow/Harper always leading him on and falling back to him. I really felt bad for him.

Also the end with Jeremy. I always thought that people in the AA aren‘t supposed to date each other? Bcs of the risk of fall back? He also gave me weird vibes and Phoebes story felt a bit too pushed. I would have liked to read more about her instead of the constant back and forth of the sisters and their „should I, should I not“.

I loved that Marlow finally went to therapy in the end and didn‘t see it as a bad thing like in the begining.

All in all a solid 4 star read

This book was gifted to me by the author for an honest review.

I thought this book was a fantastic debut. It follows four friends who are just trying to cope with life and find themselves in their 20's while coping with their own individual trauma and problems.

I loved that it was such a diverse cast of queer characters with so much representation.

All of the characters were loveable in their own ways.

The author did a superb job handling triggering and controversial topics, and the book felt very real. It was clear that they did their research and everything was handled respectfully.

This is not one you should turn to if you are looking for a light read because the topics get very heavy, but it is a good one if you are in the mood for something a little on the darker side.

I received this ARC and I was so excited to read this story. It's interesting with many different perspectives, which is both wonderful for the general book landscape but can also be overwhelming at times, particularly regarding the two characters with two names. In places, especially with Phoebe, it felt a bit rushed. I agree with another reviewer who said this might've been better split into multiple novels. But as it stands, it's a solid effort from an emerging author from whom I hope to see more.
