Lettering and Syllables Made Easy
My knowledge of Japanese is minimal, so I was happy to see that this book starts from the beginning. Excellent introduction which gives a clear succinct background on language and history. Using syllables, quadrants, and demonstration of brush strokes, this primer would be a great way to get started on writing the language. Additionally, there's accompanying video to give a full learning course experience. Whether for fun or serious study, this guide can carry you a long way.

I failed in the past attending my Japanese lessons because I had not mastered on time hiragana and katakana. These are basics you need to master if you think seriously about learning Japanese. So if you just start to learn this language, this is a great tool to learn 'these strange signs'.
