Well written and absorbing period feel

This is the 3rd book I've read by this author and I've enjoyed them all. I started with the 2 Wynderbury mysteries and thought, at first, this was another. Far from being disappointed I was soon engrossed in the plot and characters.
The fears and uncertainties of the time are well portrayed and it is no bad thing to realize how chancy life was then. Whether we were in any real danger of Revolution here is debatable but that's hindsight and just as the possibility of invasion in the 1940s, was very real, the fears here were just as reasonable.
Many of us are fortunate to have lived in relative peace on our own shores, for many decades now but that should not taken for granted. Enough.
I really enjoyed this book, the characters were engaging, even if on a lighter level than with Miss Here characters, and I'm going on to read another by the author.
