"Your son will be adored like no other. Praized from one end of the horizon to the next. But he will have one great love of his life — one that will carry him through any hardship.

Our baby trio is trioing. Mu Qing and Feng Xin deserved better childhood, honestly.

First read March 16th, 2025

That's a short one, but it tells us more about the Xianle trio and about their childhood. And no part of this story is insignificant, so I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I loved that we got to see more of Mu Qing's and Feng Xin's families, even though it wasn't thaaat much.

- Love seeing happy child XL. And his crush on FX is cuuute.
- I'm saying it now: I think MQ is XL's half brother. First of all, the the drama. Second of all, he admitted to FX that he killed someone when he was young, and the King of Xianle knew about it yet still allowed him to stay in the palace... I'm just saying.
(5 seconds later Mei Nianqing states that this is "... a family matter.")
Oh this is gonna be delicious.
- If there's one thing this work does better than the original, it's Mu Qing's character. For real. Like why is he so aggressive towards FX, if not frustratedly in love with him? Why so bitter towards XL, if not jealous of his relationship with FX and being shrouded in his own brother's shadow? We get a lot more from MQ here, and I love it.
Ok wait a minute, now I'm confused. Because they keep mentioning MQ's family, and his talk with the king didn't seem to indicate he's his son...
- MQ waking up FX with a boot thrown at his head is both on-brand and hilarious.
- FENGQING KISS LET'S GOOOOOO
- Aight. Hold up.
So, based on what we learn about HC's mother, his dad... was a martial god. And then later... Pei Ming comes looking for a woman he cares about.... Oh dear god.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
(Two seconds later) OH FUCKING SHIT YEP HE'S LOOKING HUA CHENG'S MOTHER BAHAHAHA WHAT THE FUCK.
- I'm glad we get to skip the horrors of Book 2. Everyone always talks about Book 4, but Book 2 is also so, so painful.
