It is amazing how many truths and lies can come out in just a summer. Daniel thought he was going to have a normal summer with his grandparents fixing up an old truck. However, when Tiffany needs a place to stay after her brother’s death Daniels summer plans change.
I had read the excerpt for this short novella online and knew that the setting and characters appealed to me. It is a country romance, complete with pick up truck and an unfinished cabin.
Daniel lost his father at a young age but was able to keep a good relationship with his paternal grandparents. Each summer he lived with them for several months. His mother remarried and his stepfather sounds like an OK sort of man.
Tiffany still has her birth parents but her situation is not as close and loving. At the story's start, they are grieving the loss of her older brother. This did not draw the family closer together. In fact, it was the event that caused Tiffany to move out of her home, which is how she met Daniel.
I really enjoyed this story and wished it had been a little longer. The best stories have obstacles to overcome, and this one tells about rough patches in relationships that need to be worked out.
My spoiler is that it does have a happy ending.
I was gifted a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions are all my own.
Fields of summer 3*** This is a very short story lasting about half hour, but a lot of action and emotion is pushed in to this story. Tiffany is from a normal everyday family from the outside, but behind closed doors she has a volatile abusive father who she hates, after losing her brothers her mother is broken. Daniel is visiting his grandparents from the city, he doesn't want to return back, Tiffany comes to stay with Daniel and his grandparents and it all grows from there. As it is a short story were glad it isn't a cliffhanger, Toni has done a good job getting Tiffany and Daniels emotions across well....would do even better as along story.
FIELDS OF SUMMER BY TONI GRACE SINNS This a really cute romance between a guy, a girl and a vintage truck. Daniel visits his grandparents every summer. The summer he is nineteen, his grandparents take in a neighborhood girl from a troubled home. The two young people find love and heal each others broken hearts. I loved the spirit of this love story. One of innocence and pure love between teens that is devoid of sexual activity, just true affection. It is a story that is great for any age. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a simple tale of love. 5 stars for a cute tale of teen romance
This sweet story had it all! A little drama, a beautiful country setting, summer romance and a cast of characters to fall in love with! Maybe it's the country girl in me that makes me think this story so special, or the romantic in me that still believes in first loves...either way this novelette had all the makings of a great story that kept me entertained from beginning to the "happily ever after" end!
The story of Daniel and Tiffany is very short, but the author is able to evoke very strong emotions in a very short amount of time. The story was well edited. It's a quick, emotional read. I would prefer more depth and more details to the story, however, a lot happened in a short amount of time. The story does have a happy ending and no cliffhanger, which is fabulous.
