It takes time away to bring them closer together.

As a grieving widow, Jodie Hanson never expects to feel her heart awaken to her neighbor, Brad Davenport, but their similar past experiences have a magnetic effect. Working together, he helps her overcome the anxiety of her new job as a travel writer, while she lends her support for the startup of his landscaping business.

When spring moves into summer, Jodie struggles to adapt to Brad’s busy schedule and settle her fear of traveling to unfamiliar areas. An invitation from her friend, Heather Archer, to stay at her beachside home seems the perfect antidote.

Unfortunately, Heather is charmed by a famous photographer, Wyatt Crenshaw, who comes to visit his grandmother, Rita Bennett, next door at the shore. With Wyatt and Heather becoming a couple, and Brad focusing on his work, Jodie wonders what the future holds for her.

Rita guides Jodie to a recognition that she needs to find her own strength as she explores what she considers important in her life, while Brad realizes that his world is empty without Jodie.

Kathleen McKee has woven an intricate story of a second chance for love in A Summer of Seabirds and Butterflies, Book 2 of the Journeys series. Capture the joy that comes from finding a happily-ever-after in this wholesome contemporary romance.

Excellent second chance at love after loss story

Kathleen McKee has continued to tell us the story of Jodie and Brad's life in this series with Journeys Book two. Jodie and Brad are strong characters who have overcome and are still overcoming some of lifes challenges to be together. When day to day life as each are used to changes, this makes them reflective and closer because as the old saying goes distance makes the heart grow fonder. Rita is introduced in this book and is quite the character. She says what she thinks in a manner that is helpful once what she says is thought about and processed. I really like Rita. I love the location of this story being centered mostly at the beach. This gives a nice escape from Oklahoma winter. I feel honored to have been a beta reader for this story. I read it a second time and was excited to see the finished story even is more beautiful, helpful, enjoyable, and charming. I am looking forward to reading Journeys Book 3 in the future. The first two book covers in this series are beautiful and represent each story well. I highly recommend reading book one and two!!! I loved them.

Great series

I am really enjoying this series and the character development throughout the books. This is book 2 in the series. Brad and Jodie are both finding a second chance for love after having lost their prior spouses and a child through tragedy. Heather and Wyatt are also falling in love. Rita, Wyatt's grandmother, adds to the enjoyment.

This book was a great escape to my favorite place, the beach! I love watching Brad and Jodie’s love unfold after what they both have experienced in their lives. Rita made me laugh and I loved reading about her own life and the wisdom she shared. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
